Lovely Trap

I ran from you, mother, years ago

You said I'd come to ruin

You said the monsters of this world

Would lure me into traps

You said they'd devour me

Even my heart

And now I know you were right

I've been caught, in a fearsome trap

I don't think I'll ever get out

The monster whose caught me

Has claws of steel

His mind is sharper than even his teeth

And his eyes are glowing gold

I don't think I can get away from him

His words intoxicate me like poison

They're so simple and sweet

My heart beats faster in his presence

But I'm not scared of him

We're both caught in a terrible trap

Though there are no ropes

I think I'll stay, the company's good

Don't worry about me mother, I'm fine

He doesn't bite

He does howl a bit and bark sometimes

But I can't bring myself to mind

We've decided to stay here together

In this trap for hearts

Come and visit us sometime, we'll be here forever
