"Are you stalking me?"

The question was so out of the blue that it made Bonnibel jump; she didn't think she'd been noticed. It was almost as though Marceline had a hidden set of eyes in the back of her head. Either that or she was hiding Voldemort underneath the baseball cap she was wearing.

She was stretched out on the grass of the football field, away from all of the other friend groups doing the same. The sun was out, and Marceline was practically basking in it. It surprised Bonnie; Marceline seemed the type to prefer cold weather, but she was laid out sunbathing and jotting something down in a notebook without a care in the world.

"No, I'm not stalking you. I just saw you and was surprised you'd be out here. Thought vampires were supposed to burst into flames in the sunlight." Bonnie awkwardly joked. She glanced down at the patch of grass next to Marceline as the older girl barked out a laugh. "I'd offer my company if you wanted it, but you seem content to be alone. I'll get out of your hair."

She turned and looked over to the bleachers, aware that her friends would be under there and talking about something she wasn't familiar with. As always. It was kind of weird how Marceline was the only person who included her in things and talked to her casually. Lady, Fionna, Elle and Phoebe liked to talk between themselves about people she didn't know, mostly about whatever gossip was going on or what someone did at a party, and Finn and Jake talked about movies and television shows she didn't watch. When they did include her, it was just conversations about her non-existent love life, which made her extremely uncomfortable for that one reason she didn't want to think about. She just wanted a normal conversation with someone.

She wanted to be included. It was weird how the one person she didn't consider a friend was the only one to make her feel wanted.

"You can stay if you're that desperate to be around me." Marceline closed the notebook she was writing in and finally looked up to meet Bonnie's gaze. "I don't see why, though. Wouldn't you rather be with your weird little squad?"

Bonnie shrugged. "I don't know where they are."

Lies. They would be under the bleachers as always. It was an unspoken agreement to meet there, especially now the weather had a nice spring warmth. The joys of April, apparently.

"You have their phone numbers. Texting people isn't that hard." Marceline sat up and tucked her notebook back into her black backpack. "Unless you don't want to be around them for some reason?"

Bonnibel blinked. Was it really that obvious? Or was Marceline just scarily good at reading people?

Either way, she wasn't about to admit that she didn't want to spend time with her friends. Although she liked them all, she didn't feel like she fit in with them as much as she should; they always seemed to forget about her. "Well, I could ask you the same question. Where's Keila and the rest of your friends?"

"Keila's sick. She says that it's food poisoning but I know she's just hungover since she always magically gets food poisoning after she's had an excessive amount of alcohol." Marceline shrugged and pulled her knees up to her chest. "Guy and Bongo both have an extra math study session on Tuesday lunchtime and my brother is probably with your friends. So it's just me."

"I was wondering why you seemed a little bit down. Missing your friends, huh?" Bonnie smiled sadly and finally sat herself down next to Marceline. "I can relate to that."

"Your friends will be somewhere around here." Marceline gestured around them vaguely. "If you miss them so much, text them and find out where they are."

"I wasn't talking about them." Bonnie rolled her eyes. "I meant my friends in England. Well... friend. We still video chat, obviously, but I miss spending time with him."
