Jiwoo woke up fresh the next morning at the alarm of her phone. Her morning started off simple, she had gotten up, taken care of her hygiene and got herself and her things ready to start off the day.
She then made her way downstairs, being greeted by her parents making breakfast, Yerim sleeping with her hands still stuck in the plaster substance and her sister Jinsoul, who for some reason, was trying to stuff four waffles into her mouth.
"Morning Jiwoo" Jiwoo's father greeted his oldest daughter as she made her way into the kitchen where she was met with a small plate of waffles dowced in syrup.
"Hmm" Jiwoo didn't reply but rather hummed as a response, too focused on heading to school than talking with her parents.
"H-Huh??" Yerim shook herself awake, confused on her setting. She looked around to see her hands still stuck in plaster and quickly removed her hands from the set substance.
"Don't tell me this dumbass left me here all night just because of her love affairs"
"Hey, dumbass maybe if you actually did your work you would know the effort that goes into it!" Jiwoo replied to her sister but silence filled the kitchen rather than a response from Yerim.
"Jiwoo, that's not very nice to say to your sister, apologize" Jiwoo's mother demands but Jiwoo was at the pit of confused.
"But she called me a dumbass first!" Jiwoo stated but everyone around her wasn't buying it. "What are you talking about?? Yerim didn't say anything" Jinsoul stated, putting her waffles down.
Jiwoo looked at her family as if they were crazy. Did they really not hear a word her brat of a sister said?
"Fine, i'm sorry" Jiwoo begrudgingly apologized and continued to eat her waffles.
That was weird.
She could have sworn she had heard Yerim say that. Maybe it was just a bit too early for her to have much sane thoughts, but something was off.
"I wonder if I could add two more waffles, six IS a lucky number after all"
"I wouldn't add another waffle if I were you. You've broken your jaw more than once, lucky numbers won't prevent that this time" Jiwoo replied to Jinsoul who stopped stacking her breakfast and stared at Jiwoo confusingly.
"H-How did you hear that? Did I accidentally say that out-loud?" Jinsoul questioned, facing her sister who was confused. "What do you mean? You said that out-loud, didn't you??' Jiwoo questioned but both Yerim and Jinsoul shook their heads 'no'.
Ok, things were starting to get weird.
"Looks like we got a kid with superpowers hun, telepathy girl" Jiwoo's father ruffed Jiwoo's hair as he took a sip from his coffee. Though Jiwoo was a bit too freaked out to notice her father had just ruined her 30 minute hair do. Maybe she really didn't sleep as well as she had thought last night.
"Oh, looks like you girls gotta get to school!" Jiwoo's mother announced as all three siblings made their ways from the kitchen table. Jiwoo had taken her small plaster experiment, Yerim had taken her jacket and Jinsoul, her waffles.
All siblings had then made their way out the front door and along the sidewalk as their high school was merely only minutes away.
"Are you really gonna go to school in your plaster covered pajamas?" Jinsoul questioned her sister with a mouth full of waffles. "It wouldn't be the first time" Yerim tiredly replied.
Jiwoo was going to make a comment as well, but the girl was a bit too focused to say anything. Was she really hearing voices? But even if she were, how were they exactly what people were saying?
"I wonder if Hyeju's gonna be there today. She always did love Mondays just so she could watch the pain of others'"
"That's a bit dark don't you think?" Jiwoo questioned the voice that spoke as Yerim stared at Jiwoo almost as if she had seen a ghost right in front of her.
"W-what?" Jiwoo questioned her younger sister but was caught off guard once Yerim grabbed onto her shoulders tightly. Her nails dig deep into the flesh of Jiwoo's skin.
"Do you have telepathy or something? Cause you're really freaking me out right now" Yerim then let go of Jiwoo's shoulders and continued walking. "N-no, I just know what you're thinking I guess. I'm your sister aren't I? I know you well" Even Jiwoo herself was unsure of her own statement.
"Whatever, just stop freaking me out, twit" Yerim sighed, dispersing herself from her siblings once they had all reached the peak of school grounds. "What's her problem?" Jinsoul questioned, eating the last of her waffles. "No clue"
Both Jiwoo and Jinsoul then made their separate ways and headed onto the school grounds of Blockberry High. A tremendously....average high school filled with almost every cracked-out student you could imagine.
You had your average student, academically skilled and challenged, life of the parties and those who just always seemed to be lost. But as the school was filled with every stereotype of students imaginable, Jiwoo spent her time with the best people on school grounds in her opinion.
"Jiwoo!"
Well to be more specific. Kim Hyunjin, Jeon Heejin, Lee Felix, Kim Jungeun and lastly Im Yeojin. An..odd group of people but still ones that were always there for one another.
"How did things go with Sooyoung last night? Did you finally ask her out??" Yeojin jumped to question but Jiwoo was a bit too confused on who was truly talking at the moment.
It was almost as if she could hear everyone's voice at once and everything was too much for her brain to handle all at once. She just had to focus on what was in front of her. She just had to focus-
And then she did.
She managed to tune the voices out and faced Yeojin with a small frown.
"No..." Jiwoo sighed, slumping on the green grass with the rest of her friends. "What do you mean no!?" Heejin loudly questioned, moving closer to Jiwoo with almost desperation filling her eyes.
''We were rooting for you, we were all rooting for you! Jiwoo!" Heejin shook Jiwoo by the shoulders but was quickly pulled back by Hyunjin. "Leave the poor girl alone! She probably just hadn't had the courage to yet, right?"
"A-actually I forgot about our meeting and left her hanging...for an hour" Jiwoo stated and all she had gotten in return were wide expressions.
"You have got to be kidding me," Felix and Jungeun said in unison. "Seriously? Please don't say-"
"It was also raining and she bought me coffee too..." Jiwoo didn't even get a chance to breathe before being scolded by those around her, angry at the stupidity of their friend.
"See! this is why I said you should just go for it!" Heejin stated loudly
"But she's obviously not ready. Look at the poor thing, she's shaking" Hyunjin contradicted Heejin's statement but truly it did nothing but spark an argument between the two. A daily occurrence at best, but what else did you expect from friends of over 12 years?
"Gosh, why don't those two just date each other all ready? It would be better than them going at each others throats everyday"
Jiwoo looked towards Yeojin's direction as that was who's thought she had heard. What was she going on about? Heejin and Hyunjin were just friends-
"I don't even know why I like this loser to begin with"
"I wonder if those lips kiss as good as they argue....wait- Heejin! Snap out of it!"
Nevermind.
Jiwoo didn't exactly know how she was so oblivious to it in the beginning. Though, she should have at least suspected something. But that quickly sparked an idea in Jiwoo's head.
Maybe the reason why she had been given these new abilities was to help her friends get together? Maybe she was meant to do this, like a superhero origin story or something like that.
Maybe Jiwoo had found her new purpose?
