1 - Times Have Changed

_2 years later_

'Kayla please go brush your teeth, we have to leave in 5 minutes.'

'Okay Mommmy.' She squealed.

'Did she just call you Mommy?' Nathan laughs.

'Oh wow, I guess she did.' I answered surprised.

'Calm down, Ashleigh. Shes probably joking. Ill go get Hayes and Caitlin.' He kisses my cheek and runs upstairs.

'Sure.' I smiled. 2 minutes later, Hayes and Caitlin comes running down stairs.

'Here is your lunch and here is your lunch money.' I say as I give them their items.

We all get into the car and I do a last minute check before we head off. It's a 20 minute drive into town, where Hayes and Caitlin go to school and where Kayla goes to daycare, while me and Nathan go to work.

'Caitlin its your senior year, and Hayes you're a Junior. Good luck guys and make loads of memories. ' I smile at them as they get out of the car.

'Nate, I cant handle this anymore.' I sigh at him.

'Why do you say that?'

'Because, did you see that, Caitlin didn't even look at me.'

'Its her first day back at school, she's probably nervous, its not you babe.' He squeezes my leg and we continue driving. We drop Kayla off at day care and then I take Nathan to work. Then I head over to my office.

'Good morning Mrs Sykes.' Cailey Smiles as I walk in the building.

'Morning Mrs Irwin. Whats on the agenda today?'

'I dont know I am not your assistant.' She laughs.

'You're right. And im not Mrs Sykes yet.' I laugh as greet my best friend.

'Taylor?' I shout out.

'Yes, Mrs White , im here,' she speaks.

'Taylor, you need to stop running around this place. We have elevators you know.' I smirk.

'Yes Ma'am, so sorry.'

'Urrgh that makes me sound old. Whats on the agenda today?' I say while me and Cailey starts walking to the elevators.

'You have a meeting with the editors and the printers said that they didn't get the new orders of ink-'

'Nope you need to phone the whole salers and find out if they gave the correct amount of supplies that I quoted for and double check our payment fees, and why do I have a meeting with the editors?' I cut her off.

'They said they wanted to talk about the front cover, they are looking for a new face.'

'Okay cool, tell them ill be in touch, see you later.' I walk into my office.

Well let me fill you in a little bit. I own a modeling agency with my 2 best friends. Cailey and Lily. Our brand is called 'ACL' which is basically our names. We started this business 11 months ago, after I got my degree in design and business. Lily and Cailey work together to develop everything fashion, they are really top designers. And me well I do everything else, basically I just need to find new fresh faces. We also own a small magazine called 'your everyday life' and we all work together to make an amazing magazine. Taylor is my assistant. And I would like to say that my life feels back to normal.

Nathan Sykes is my fiancé, we have been dating for 15 months now. He popped the question 3 months ago, everyone said it's a little too early in our relationship but it just feels so right with him, he makes me feel safe. Which is much more than anyone else has made me feel and I do love him. Cailey is also engaged to Ashton of course, we all knew they'd end up together. Lily is also engaged to a dude named Christian. We are planning a triple wedding in spring this year. It'll be amazing.

'Hey, you coming?'

'Yeah im just waiting for Nathan.' I smile at Lily

'Of course see you later.'

Nathan fetched me from work and we went to the bar67 just outside town. We hung out with Lily, Cai and Ashton. We left at about 11pm and got home in no time.

We live on the outskirts of Manhattan in a double story with a lake. Lets just say we love the peace. This is our 4 month living here, we used to live in a 3 bedroom apartment in the heart of the city but after I got my first pay cheque we decided to get a bigger house, Hayes and Caitlin hasn't gotten used to the fact that they left all their friends behind in LA. But after Luke died we had to make a fresh start. I legally adopted Kayla, she is 4 now and growing up too fast.

I met Nathan at a law firm and we instantly fell in love. He is two years older than me but it hasn't affected me. He really loves us all of us and he knows about most of my past but I haven't spoken to him about Calum. That's a part of my life I want to keep in the past.

I shower and head upstairs to Kaylas room her room is the closest to us, because she tends to get scared and we are literally a door away. I tuck her in and kiss her goodnight.

'Is it always going to be like this?' I hear Hayes behind me, I turn around to see him standing in the doorway.

'Shh.' I whisper and walk out the room. ' what do you mean?'

'Is our life always going to be like this? Moving from one place to another? Always feeling guilty? I dont feel at home here. This isn't my home. This isnt our home Ash.' He tears up.

'Hayes, come here. Listen to me. We needed a fresh start. No, we deserved a fresh start all of us, and that is why we came here Hayes.'

'But what about Calum? You just left him behind.'

'It was his choice to stay, I wanted him to come with. Damn I wanted to marry him but things changed. He changed. Things just didn't work out Hayes.'

'Do you still love him?'

'Hayes.. I'm with Nathan now. And I'm happy.'

'You didn't answer my question.'

'It's getting late, you have school tomorrow.' I said changing the subject.

'I still like him more than Nathan.' He laughs as he pulls his face in a disgusted face.

'Give him a chance.' I smile. And he nods his head. I walk him to his room and turn off his light.

I head to Caitlins room and see her light is still on. I peep through the door and see her sitting at her desk.

'Hey.' I whisper.

'Hey.'

'What you doing up so late?'

'Just homework.' She smiles and looks back at her computer.

'Really? On the first day?'

'Yeah, girl its the physics that gets me.' She laughs.

'Well okay, dont stay up too late.' I smile as a head out of her room.

'Ashleigh, thank you.' She hugs me.

'For what hun?'

'For everything, my life wouldn't be the same without you.'

'Hun im glad, I just want you to be happy.' I smile

'Night.'

'Good night Cait.' I smile and close her door.

I walk up to my bedroom to see Nathan passed out on the bed, I tuck him in and shut my eyes. Today has been a good day, hopefully tomorrow will be better.
