What's Love Like? A Naegami Story

Chapter Two

        I feel like my eyes just got slapped with light! I guess I didn't realize how dim the lights were in the hallways. Once I could see again, I let my eyes observe the room, there aren't very many people here, maybe fourteen or fifteen? That blonde guy is here too! Perhaps I can go and apologise now. I start towards him but as soon as I begin walking in his direction, he gives me the most intimidating glare! I stop in my tracks, afraid he was going to put some curse on me if I walk any closer. Suddenly, as if I wasn't shook up enough, I look up to see a black and white bear standing on a stage. "Hiya students!" The bear's voice echoes throughout the whole gym. "I'm your headmaster!" A talking bear is our headmaster?! It said nothing about this on the entrance form! "I know what you're all thinking. Why is this gummy-bear looking thing talking? My name is Monokuma and I'm a robot bear. Since technology has improved so much, you don't even need a real teacher!" The bear smiles like this was nothing out of the ordinary. "Alrighty, since it's already pretty late! I'll assign you your dorm room and then you're free to go!" Dorms in highschool? I guess I'll have to tell my parents I won't be coming home for a bit..

      "Also, just a little reminder, you'll be sharing a room with someone, y'know, to save money." Well..at least I won't be alone at night.

                Everyone exits the gym silently, nobody says anything. Normally I appreciate silence but I really need to know what was going on here. To be completely honest, I'm scared. We have a robotic-bear teacher, I already have at least two people who hate me, and I still don't have any friends. "Wait, stop stop stop!" Monokuma yells, chasing after us with his tiny legs. "I never gave you your room keys!" I turn to face the tubby bear as he holds up fifteen cards. -Not including Mukuro- "Here ya' go!" He shouts as he throws the cards out into the small crowd of students. Everyone's key landed perfectly in front of them whilst mine landed on my head. "Hmph, thanks luck.." I mumble under my breath as I pick my key up off the floor. I hear a giggle close behind me. "Great, they're making fun of me." I think to myself as I stand back up. "Are you okay?" A girl with long blue hair smiles sweetly at me. "Oh yeah, I'm okay. Thanks." I try to smile back, though I'm a bit too embarrassed to look happy. "My name is Sayaka Maizono!" I recognize that name! She's the Ultimate Pop Sensation. "We went to middle school together, you remember me, right?" "Of course I remember you! Though, I didn't actually think you'd remember me. I'm not the easiest to remember." I respond, trying to sound nice. "Really? I thought you were pretty cool, Naegi." Now I was genuinely smiling. Sayaka Maizono, the Ultimate Pop Star, thought I, the Ultimate Luck, was cool! "T-Thanks! I think you're pretty cool too!" I stutter trying not to say something stupid. "Well, I'll see you around!" She says, smiling as she walks away. New friend, finally!
