Humans were happy in misery, when we roamed the world hunting and gathering fruits here and there. The family had only the members necessary for subsistence and attachment was more than enough. The air was our vehicle and uncertainty our neighbor. The water was variable and the joy constant. We slept where we wanted and the land had no owner, other than our imaginary gods. The ancestors looked after us from the night sky in their beautiful stellar dance. The family was a united herd, being responsible was something taken for granted and not a surprise.
Until we over complicate life, we get tired of living outdoors and we grow food. We took over the land as if it really belong us. We fall in love with things more than the family. And so we took over the world and strive to destroy. We improved our social status and created social classes. We divided ourselves into territories and created empires and then countries. We created tools to destroyed the ecosystem that has given us so much.
Now being a naturalist is an offense. Defending water, sea, plants and animals is a crime. Loving truly makes us crazy. In a world where appearances matter, the truth is buried by lies. One day we changed from being human to be civilized. As current distractions take us away from what really matters, we become numb and monotonous.
I wish we continued to live like we did in caves: telling stories over a family campfire and sharing the tiring hunt of the day with the most important people in our lives.
