In order to keep the peace in our hometowns, the families were flown to LA to meet Niall.
The only downside was that I couldn't see Gus.
Cameron and Niall had gone to meet her family the day before, and I was left alone in the house with nothing to do. The film crew watched me read by the pool and go for a run, and I gave an interview about how bored I was.
Nothing beats boredom quite like talking about it to a camera for two hours.
With only two of us left, it was getting way too quiet. I was ready for the show to be over.
I walked downstairs and met Niall in the kitchen.
"We're going to your family's hotel, okay?" He asked, tossing a grape in his mouth.
I followed him to his car, drove through LA to the hotel.
I climbed out and saw my mom running through the lobby.
"Mom!" I cried, breaking away from Niall.
"My baby girl!" She said, wrapping her arms around me.
"Hi Daddy, hi Mike." I hugged my dad and brother.
"There's one more thing." Niall grinned at my parents before waving someone over.
BARK BARK!
"Gus!" I cried, falling to the ground as my dog ran full force into my arms.
"Well, that was the best surprise ever." My mom laughed, watching Gus run in circles around me.
After the week I had, I was so happy to see Gus in the lobby.
"Gus, meet Niall." I laughed, pointing at the laughing blonde boy.
Gus trotted over and sat down in front of Niall, who knelt down to rub Gus's ears.
"Well that's it, you're in." My dad laughed when Gus rolled over for full access to his belly.
"Okay, let's go to dinner." My brother said and I frowned.
"I don't want to leave him alone." I frowned, wrapping my arms around Gus's neck.
"I'm sure I can leave him at my house for the night." Niall said, looking to my parents for the final word.
"I love that idea." My mom nodded in agreement.
"You're gonna go hang with the guys." I said, kissing Gus's head.
Twenty minutes later, I walked Gus up to the open door where Liam and Harry were waiting.
"Listen.." I began, while Harry reached for the leash. I pulled my hand back and pointed at him.
"Harry Styles. This is my best friend. If anything happens to him..." I warned, letting his imagination finish the threat.
"Okay okay. Uhh, Liam. Maybe you should take the leash." Harry said, moving behind Liam.
I said goodbye to Gus and thanked Harry and Liam before heading back to the car for dinner.
"So Niall, have any of the other girls met the band?" My mom asked, while we drove back into LA.
"Well, Blair did at the concert we went to. Her and Liam hit it off. Which is great cause he had a rocky break up and she's great. But other than that nope, just Mae." He said, smiling at me.
"What does Mae stand for?" He asked my parents, not taking his eyes off the road.
"Oh no. No do not tell him!" I said, whirling around and glaring at Mike.
"Margaret." Mike said, smiling at me.
"Oh boy I am going to have fun with this Maggie." He teased and I groaned, throwing my head back against the seat.
"Honey, can we talk." My mom called me over and the boys continued walking.
"What's up?" I asked, slowing down to match pace.
"Well, your father and I have been talking about you while you've been gone." She said slowly, choosing her words.
"Good things of course." I teased and she smiled.
"I hate to be one of 'those moms' but honey, you have blossomed." She said and I thought I saw tears in her eyes.
"What are you trying to say?' I asked.
"We want to talk to you about staying out here." She said.
"Wait. What?" I said, stopping.
"We think you should transfer to a school that lets you live in LA." She said.
"Really?" I asked. To be honest, I loved the idea.
"Maybe Blair could move out here too?" She said, and we kept walking."Well its really complicated, but she already is." I said.
"That's great! Does she have a place? I mean we would have to talk about pricing but your father and I have always offered to pay for you to live at school. If we find an apartment comperable we could have a conversation." She said and I nodded.
"Its paid off for two years or something. But they told her to find a roommate. I actually have her cellphone back at the house. I can call her at the end of the week." I said, getting excited.
"But what about you and Dad and Mike. And Gus?" I asked.
"We're just across the country. We can visit, you can visit. Maybe Gus could even spend some time out here." She said.
I stopped walking, tears in my eyes.
"I love you." I said, and she smiled.
"I love you too honey, so much." She said.
"Thanks for making me do this." I said, hugging her tightly.
We caught up to the others and walked into the restaraunt for dinner.
"Were you crying?" Niall whispered in my ear.
"Yes, but good tears. I will explain later." I said, squeezing his hand.
He smiled at me and nodded before ordering his food.
Later that night, we stopped at my family's hotel and got out to say goodbye to them.
"Are you guys flying out tomorrow or staying to sight see?" I asked.
"We're gonna stay the week." My dad said, giving me a hug.
"We finish on Friday." I said.
"We will help you move out." My mom said, not wanting to mention what the 'finishing' really means.
But I had no doubts.
We said goodbye and got back into Niall's car.
"It was nice seeing them." I said, smiling out the window.
"They're really great." He said, taking his eyes off the road for a second to smile at me.
"I can't wait for you to meet my family." He said.
"Me too." I said while my stomach erupted in fireworks.
"So what were you crying about earlier?" He said.
"Well, my parents want me to move out here." I said.
"What about your school?" He asked.
"I would transfer over here. And I could live with Blair." I said, smiling so wide my cheeks hurt.
"That's awesome!" He said.
"And you know the best part?" He asked.
"What?" I said, as he reached over to squeeze my leg.
"I would be right around the corner." He smiled, pulling into the driveway.
The camera crew was waiting to film us saying goodbye, per usual.
We got out of the car and he walked me to the door.
"See you later, alligator." He said, wrapping his arms around my waist.
"In awhile crocodile." I laughed and leaned forward to kiss him.
