Prompt: The Way I Am by Ingrid Michelson
Timeline: post-finale, pre-tellas daughters conception
This is my first time writing a songfic so I very much hope I captured the songs meaning with Tella and Legend ❤️

Tella was perfect.
Legend decided that of all days, today would be the day he finally observed that Tella, was indeed, perfect for him.
Her hand always seemed to fit perfectly intertwined in his. Her featherlight blonde head brought seas of warmth to his heart while she laid on him. Their bodies simply matched and bonded together.
This woman, would truly be the death of him. Even her imperfections were simply flawless in his eyes.
Tella, was by no means graceful, and she somehow made it attractive. Her inelegant and sinful amber eyes made him feel a sense of hareth. A longing, he himself, hadn't ever had before their meeting. Before she changed his life for the better. Legend couldn't imagine what it would be life to still be immortal and simply own Tella instead of give her the love she deserves. He shuddered away from the thought.
"Legend" a small recognizable voice whispered in the dark.
He smiled, "yes, Tella?"
He couldn't see her in the voluminous dark of the early morning, but he could feel her cuddled close to his side with her arm draped across his chest, her head resting in his shoulder. He imagined she had a look of a broken clock, stunning but dangerous.
"Are you awake?"
"How else would I be able to answer you"
She flinched, "You can do magic and stuff"
Legend laughed- never in the centuries he'd been alive had someone ever summed up the voluminous amount of power he wielded as 'stuff'. Tella truly was simply made for him, and he intended to never let the world take her from him.
Tella coddled in closer to his neck, "can you light a candle?"
"Of course, my Tella"

"Good morning"
He smiled, "good morning"
Legend sat, looking out onto the forest from a bay window in the second story of the illusioned home. His goddess laid in his lap, her back laying on his front.
Tella had asked him to take her on a new adventure, and so he did. He had shown her many magical things and creatures, and each time her face would make expressions that Legend was sure would break his heart if they were ever taken from him.
They currently resided alone together in one of Legends many estates. He had made sure to get one at this specific place, knowing the wild zebras that haunt the area. Tella had told him ever so long ago, when they only communicated it dreams, she didn't believe the curious creature existed. He had proved her wrong then, and intended to do it once more. But, for now, he intended on staying here with her for as long as she would let him.
She shifted in his lap, "Did I ever tell you I once pretended to be a mermaid when I was young, for a week?"
He looked down at her, "An entire week?"
"Yes, I even learned how to swim just to pretend I had fins"
His hand ran down the length of her stomach, "I could give you fins"
"I'd prefer you not" she joked.
"I'd still love you with fins"
Tella laughed, her voice sickly sweet.

The icy wind flew around the inside of their home.
Their home, Legend tasted the feel of the words on his tounge. How he longed for a home with somebody someday when he was a child. Not a house, he had many of those, but a home. Somewhere he could escape to and share with somebody he wanted to share himself with. And Tella had finally enraptured his heart in such a way. He couldn't think of a better person to share a home with then her.
His heart stood next to bookshelves, tapping her fingers through the books looking for a hidden passage. The white ribbon in her hair mirrored the snow of the December empire outside. He traveled the line of her curls down to her waist, realizing she was only wearing a thin corset-less, light dress. Something made for hot summer days, not the snow fall of winter. He wished she would realize how cold it was.
"You do realize it's freezing outside, right?"
She didn't turn away from her adventure, "I'm not cold"
"I don't believe you, my liar"
She moved away from the bookcase and sighed, smiling, "you don't need to fuss over me, Legend"
He didn't need to fuss? He was hardly fussing at all. But if she got chilled, she could get ill. If she got sick she would be in pain, and Legend didn't know if he could stand to watch her feel unwell.
"I'm not fussing, I'm being rational. Please at least put on a coat?"
Tella blew out a breath, "you think I'm going to perish?"
He recoiled. If he was being honest with himself, he was terrified of her death. He had made up his mind long ago when he gave away his daring immortality in favor of her heart, if Tella no longer existed neither would he- no matter what he left behind.
He straighter himself, "I'm simply worried for your health"
She hummed, moving closer to him. His arm twisted around her waist like branches hugging a tree.
"Perhaps" she said, "you could keep me warm"
He smiled, "who would I be to refuse such an offer, your highness"
Tella leaned up and whispered in his ear, her voice laced with sin, "I'm going to make you regret that"
He pulled her hair down so she faced him. His warm lips meant her ice cold forehead, like fire calming ice.
"We'll see about that"
