Paint Yourself Better

The canvas of hurt, of pain, lets emotions

be seen in a sea, a visual ocean.

Colors splash and dance and play,

more than just an ashy grey.

Paint is thrown like an accusation,

lies growing bigger with each application.

The agony of torture tried to be ended

with evasion, distortion, deceit, until suspended.

Gasping for breath like a helpless mortal,

you crawl through the paint towards the one bright portal.

Rise from the floor, stumble blindly towards the light,

and wait for a sign of the end to this persisting night.

Paint yourself better until the pain is past,

then walk home with your eyes downcast.
