"I'm sorry, what?" You questioned as you looked at your mother with furrowed eyebrows.
"It's been in our bloodline as long as the dates go back." She continued and leaned on the small desk in your room. "Our family was even involved in the making of the first Vampire." She said and you could see the slight sparkle in her eyes as she reminisces about it. While you sat there really trying to take that in.
"Have you ever experienced or done things you couldn't quite explain? Maybe a bit had come to you and you recited it out loud?" She questioned as her attention was focused back onto you.
"During the fire..." you muttered softly and cast your gaze down to your knees as you thought of how cold the soles of your feet had become like ice and kept you from burning yourself that day.
"Really? Your powers are finally awaking. I was 17 whenever mine first awoke." She grinned and tapped her chin. "I almost killed your great grandmother."
"That's wonderful, but I need you to continue telling me about why everything is happening now." You say and just set aside the fact that you're a mage for now.
"Right. Well, whenever I married your father of course he knew all the risks and dangers that would come with it, but well your father is a stubborn guy till the very end." She said and shook her head. "So we got together and had you. Our first born child. Your father knew right away that you were special. I don't know your father always had a keen eye for the unusual." She laughed and smiled down at you. Her bright red lips only seeming to bring out the white of her perfectly healthy looking teeth.
"Though, only a few years after you and Crowely were born the vampires started having trouble with a group of evil vampires. Ones that never bonded and only drank blood to kill and bring them power." She paused her expression shifting into a more distraught one than before. "We called them the league. They sought out to find the book a vampire had written about the theory of temporary vampire changes and how to change back from being immortal. Though of course it was all just a theory at the time, it had become wildly popular with vampires all over the world. It caused so much trouble the Higher ups had it made illegal. All the copies had been destroyed. All except one." Your mother sighed and tucked her hands into her trench coat.
"The author, Toshinori Yagi, left it in my care since our families were so closely related, but I knew I couldn't bring this home to my family. Hell, I knew the league would've killed anyone to get this book and I couldn't put my family at risk." She paused and shifted on her feet as she looked at you without really looking at you. The look in her eyes obviously told you she was reliving everything she was saying. "I took the book and left. I convinced myself it was better that way, but apparently I was wrong." She paused and tucked her wavy locks once again. "Once I felt the barrier I had over the house had been breached, I took flight after flight to get back here to you all, but it was too late. Your father and brother had been... well you know."
Of course you knew. There wasn't a day when you didn't think about the gorrified scene. It had stained your once clean sheet. Your purity tainted forever, but that seemed to be the ever-lasting theme in your book. Page after page something else happened to fuck with your mental health. You just didn't know it you could quite handle it anymore.
"But then I found you." Your eyes snapped back up to the woman in which you had known as your mother in your younger years. "You had already bonded with a vampire and seemed to be hitting it off." She wore a faint smile as she looked at you. "Amazing choice by the way. I figured that since all the vampires would be crawling over you, because of you magickal blood, that you would have a harder time choosing." You could feel yourself inwardly cringing at how you bonded with Bakugo. It was very unexpected and gross, now that you thought about it. You were such an ass to him, but he wasn't really much better.
