"I don't want to set the world on fire," taking a deep breath you continue. "I just want to start a flame in your heart..."

The club bustled with mob bosses, Hydra generals, cartel leaders, assassins and hit men/women.

Lights were dimmed around the stage, a single halo singing down on the main act, you.

Wolf whistles and alcohol was passed around just as frequently across marvel counters and table tops. Your voice rung out through the gathering, entrancing the slobbering scums who were put under your spell.

As more and more money was put into the velvet satchel which you called your own, the limiting bracelet you wore started to fade out its light. Your powers were draining.

Letting the spell fizzle out of their systems you saw a few stand up to clap which you were thankful for once your songs ended.

Then it happened, the moment you stepped to the back of the stage, gunshots rung out, glass shattered and tables were flipped.

"Get down, miss!" You saw a what looked to be a boy in a spider suit stop a table being flung at you. Crawling away on all fours it seemed the avengers were here! You had only seen them on the news during 2012... and the Sokovia event.

Across the room you saw your boss... your captor... your problem, cowering behind a couch.

Sliding across and under a table, you were now by his side. "Thank god you're here! Protect me!" He knew what he had to do, but he didn't think it through.

The restraint on his wrist collapsed, clattering against glass and the cold ground.

"Wrong move," a flame ignited in your hand. Immediately you forced it down his throat and watched him burn. Fading... slowly... just like your powers after every show.

"Hands up, Calcifer," the man who your recognised to be Iron man calls out through his mask.

"I like to think I'm Howl," flames danced in your eyes as your captor burned into ashes, the smell ventilating out.

"She gets the pop culture reference," Iron man says, almost impressed.

"Miss, step back from the body,"

"He's more like ashes, but alright," you walk away and collect the bag of cash you used to hand over. Counting the slips of paper which held so much value for such a weak thing, you smile at the amount. "Four hundred and twenty five... not bad,"

"Uh, Lady, you can't just-" the thick Russian accent gets stopped when what looked to be a girl just the same age hits her in the guts.

"I have a name,"

"Would you be kind enough to tell us?" That must be Captain America. Turning around, you brush off the silk dress which was a mess as of now.

"No," you say simply, walking away to the bar and grabbing a bottle of Jack.

"Well, Miss mystery, we need to take you into Shield for questioning," you stared down at your talon like nails, feeling the power buzz off the tips. "Miss-" a metal hand places itself on your shoulder.

"Don't touch me," you growl, your voice distorted. Spinning around, you clutch the cool metal tight. Everyone stood shocked at the pitch black eyes and horns which peaked through your hair.

"What in the nines?" A big muscly man mumbles. Snapping out the trance you were in you let go.

"I hope you've found what you need, I'll be on my way," the dead bodies of the people you hate most laid about, one by one you picked off jewels and cash.

This was going to be a good fresh start.

~~~
Humming a soft tune to yourself, the broom you held swept across the floor of your apartment. Light streamed in through the curtains on that chill afternoon.
What you didn't expect was a light knock on your door.
"Coming!" Taking off your cleaning apron and laying it on a chair you open the door with a smile, only for it to drop. "Oh... it's you,"
"Natasha Romanoff, Miss Viliana,"
"I thought Shield would do better," you gesture for her to come in.
"Better?"
"You found one of my many aliases, how long did it take?" Coffee poured into the mug which you brought out to her.
"No thank you," her uncertain look made you smile.
"It's not poisoned," she sipped at it, keeping eye contact with you.
"So you go by how many names?"
"As many as I need... so what do you need?"
"Your name, first of all," a smile tugged at your lips.
"Ellietta,"
"Liar, that's not your real name," she put the mug on your table, widening her eyes at the suddenly appearing coaster.
"Not bad... Y/n, my name is Y/n L/n,"
"Well, Miss L/n, on behalf of Shield and the Avengers, we ask for you to considering joining the team,"
A scoff escapes your lips which she internally sighs at. "I'm not joining your pity party," riding the table of the coffee mug. "If that's all you wish to discuss, then the door is right there, Miss Romanoff,"
"Think about the offer, Miss L/n,"
"Mhm, I sure will," once she left, her footsteps merging into silence down the hall, you turn to your table where a letter sat.
It was simple, an invitation which read as so:
If you change your mind please make your way to Avengers tower.
You are to state you are here for a meeting with Tony Stark.
Kind regards,
The Avengers
"Should I go?" Tapping your finger against the card you audibly decide. "Nah," tossing it in the bin, you get back to work.
