"Edmund!" Lucy called out. I smirked at him. He was trying to apply for the military under our Aunt's name.
"Logan is here, come help us with the groceries."
I smiled apologetically as the boy behind Edmund laughed as the soldier handed back Edmund's papers.
"Better luck next time, eh squirt?" He snickered. I turned to leave with Lucy as Edmund followed us. He reluctantly gave me a hug. I had moved out recently and didn't see them as often.
"Squirt!" Edmund fumed.
"He barely had two years on me! I'm a king!"
I looked down. We never spoke of Narnia anymore.
"I've fought wars, and... and I've led armies."
"Not here," I murmured, putting the groceries in a basket on Edmund's bike.
"Yeah," Edmund grumbled.
"Instead I'm stuck here doing battle with Eustace Clarence Scrubb."
I sighed. Eustace was our cousin and he was a know-it-all asshole.
"If anyone so deserved a name," I added. I looked at Lucy weirdly. She had a strange expression and she was tucking the hair behind her ear. With a pang, I remembered Caspian, and how he had done the same thing to me...
"What are you doing?" Edmund demanded, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Nothing," Lucy replied, her voice a pitch higher than normal.
"Come on then," I said, still looking at Lucy. It was hard to remember she wasn't the five year old she was when I first met her.
"We're home!" Lucy called out as we entered the Scrubb's home.
"Logan is here too!"
"Hello Uncle Harold, it's Logan," I greeted my uncle who was reading the newspaper, as I helped Lucy with the groceries.
"We tried to find some carrots at the store, but all they had were turnips. Again." Lucy told him.
"Shall I start making soup? Aunt Alberta's on her way here," I asked. Uncle Harold turned the page of his newspaper, ignoring us.
"Nice to see you again too," I muttered under my breath. Edmund stuck his tongue out at him.
"Father!"
I groaned and turned around and saw the one and only Eustace Scrubb- the world's biggest asshole.
"Edmund's making faces at you," Eustace reported. He then shot a spitball at Edmund's neck.
"Why you little," Edmund said, lunging at Eustace.
"Father, he's going to hit me!"
"Edmund, Logan, look!" Lucy interrupted before I could yell at Eustace. She held up a letter."It's from Susan!"
We walked upstairs to a spare bedroom and sat down on the bed.
"I do wish you guys were here with us" The letter read.
"It's been such an adventure, but nothing like our times in Narnia. America is very exciting, except we never see Father. He works so very hard."
I sighed sadly. I missed Susan so much.
"I was invited to the British consul's tea party this week by a naval officer, who happens to be very handsome. I think he fancies me. How do I know this? He looks at me like how Caspian used to look at Logan. Sorry if you're reading this Logan."
