By nightfall we made it back to the Dawn Treader and cleaned up from the battle. Caspian gave Lucy his quarters and the rest of us crashed on hammocks in the lower deck. I had gotten a hammock in between Caspian and unfortunately Eustace. Eustace was writing in his diary. After he had put it away, I decided to try to have a conversation with him.

"You done writing, cousin?" I asked sleepily, making him jump.

"As a matter of fact, I am." he replied. I chuckled.

"You know I don't actually hate you, right Eustace? I mean you annoy the fuck out of me like every minute of the day, but you are my cousin still,"

Eustace didn't reply. Eventually I cleared my throat.

"Goodnight Eustace,"

Just as I was about to fall asleep, I could have sworn I heard a voice.

"Goodnight, cousin."

The next morning, I awoke to see that I was the only one still in bed. I quickly got up, not bothering to change out of my sleepwear, and I burst out onto the deck, shivering from the cold morning at sea. I saw Eustace hiding in a corner, writing in his diary and talking to a bird of all things, Edmund cleaning the sword, Lucy sewing, and Caspian talking with Drinian. I leaned on the railing of the deck, closing my eyes and breathing in the fresh sea air. I glanced up, looking for Caspian, now seeing Drinan talking while Caspian clearly wasn't listening. He grinned at me as I rolled my eyes. Drinan seemed to notice and bowed, leaving Caspian. Keeping my gaze on him, I ran up the stairs to the upper deck, skidding to a halt next to him.

"Sleep well, sweetheart?" He asked gently. I nodded shyly, blushing at the nickname.

"Better than ever."

Caspian pulled me into a hug, making me gasp slightly.

"It's cold out," he explained. I nodded, blushing profusely.

"Thanks Cas."

We stood for a few minutes, just enjoying each other. I looked up and met his eyes. I leaned forward and kissed him, lips softly moving against his. His hands lifted up and cupped my face as he kissed back, both of us lost in the moment. As we pulled apart we both laughed.

"I think that shows how I feel about you," I grinned. Caspian pulled me into a hug, squeezing me.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

By the afternoon, I was talking to Drinian about battle tactics.

"Yes Drinian, while starting the fight with a few punches or stabs with a blade may be useful, I think that in most cases it is wise to knock the weapon out of the opponents' hand if necessary and flip them onto their- what the hell are they doing?"

Eustace and Reepicheep were dueling. Reepicheep flung an orange at us, which I caught easily, handing it to Drinan.

"I'm terribly sorry Drinian, my cousin is just..." I trailed off.

"No problem at all your majesty. I can see Reepicheep will handle things," Drinian replied. I watched as Reepicheep coached Eustace as they continued to duel. I chuckled softly as Reepicheep pretended to fall off the ship and circle around back behind Eustace.

"Element of surprise," I murmured as Reepicheep pushed Eustace back into a basket. I cocked my head at the sound of a girl's scream. I gasped as the little girl from before, Gael, slowly climbed out.

"Look," Lucy pointed out.

"Gael? What are you doing here?"

After a few seconds, Gael's father rushed forward and wrapped her in a hug. Drinian and I walked forward.

"Looks like we have an extra crew member," I smiled gently. Drinian leaned down and offered the orange to Gael.

"It seems we do."

Gael took the orange with a small smile and bowed to me and Lucy who had walked up next to me.

"Welcome aboard," Lucy welcomed.

"Your Majesties," Gael bowed again.

"Call me Logan," I said kindly.

"And call me Lucy. Come on,"

Lucy guided Gael away and I realized with a pang how much it reminded me of us when we first discovered Narnia. But Lucy didn't need me anymore. I leaned against the railing and sighed, lost in my thoughts.

"Looks uninhabited," Caspian said, looking through a telescope. We had reached an island just as the sun started to set.

"But if the lords followed the mist East, they would have stopped here."

"Could be a trap," Drinan commented.

"Or it could hold some answers," Edmund countered.

"Caspian? Logan?"

"We'll spend the night on shore, scour the island in the morning." Caspian said, handing the telescope to Drinian and taking my hand and leading me to the longboats. A half an hour later, we arrived and set up camp. Everyone else was asleep, but I couldn't. Careful not to make any noise, I quietly got up, grabbed my swords, and started walking down the beach. Eventually, I found a cluster of rocks where I sat, gazing at the star speckled sky.

"Can't sleep?"

I looked up and saw Caspian. He sat down next to me. I smiled and pointed to my necklace, still glowing around his neck.

"You still wear it?"

He scrambled to take it off, but I stopped him.

"No, no. I gave it to you."

Caspian looked up at the sky.

"I missed you a lot you know."

I sniffed.

"I missed you too, idiot."

We sat in silence.

"Do you ever feel like you don't belong?" I murmured eventually. Caspian put an arm around me.

"I do."

I looked at him and sighed.

"I feel like...I'm not needed anymore by the others."

Caspian smiled sadly.

"Lucy and Edmund are not little kids anymore. But I know they rely on you."

I pressed a kiss to his lips.

"Thank you Cas."

I couldn't sleep. The sun was just starting to rise and Caspian was next to me, an arm wrapped loosely around me. I snuggled closer to him.

Thump thump thump.

I remained still, but I was still listening. Footsteps.

"Seems they brought a pig," I heard a voice say. I glanced at Eustace who was snoring.

"This one-it's female."

They were referring to Lucy. I stared wide eyed at the large footprints they were making in the ground.

"This one too."

Gael.

"And this one."

I quickly closed my eyes.

"This one reads,"

I heard pages of Lucy's book turning.

"Let's take her. And plus, that one is wrapped up in the man."

I jumped up as they grabbed Lucy, reaching for my swords but they were knocked from my hands.

"Great, this one is awake! We have to take her too. Make sure the man is asleep!"

I managed to grab onto Lucy's hand before we were pulled away.
