Proud of my work of helping the doctor, I decided to leave my glasses off today. my legs are getting better and Serafina says I can take a walk to the food court today. Big improvement! She says that if I can't make it back to hit the button on my wrist and she wil come get me with a wheel chair. pft! Ya, like I'm going to look like an old person in a wheel chair. I will make it.
After breakfast I put on the wrist band with the button and headed to the elevators. 2 levels down, no way am I taking the stairs!
I reached the elevator and stepped in. Alone. I counted the dings as I headed down and almost feel backwards when it stopped. I stepped out of the elevator and headed toward the lobby where the food court was. Things were going well so far. I never made eye contact with anyone so I wouldn't feel dizzy.
I entered the food court and grabbed 2 huge chocolete chunk cookies. I was craving this, plus I got one for Serafina to thank her. Checking out was easy. I leaned on the register for support and went to the closest chair for a break.
A few minutes later I felt ready to go. I stood up and grabbed my cookies. Slowly and carefully making my way back to the elevator I noticed Jordan enter the lobby. Great... No way am I running into him right now. I started to quicken my pase, dodging old people and nurses as I made my way.
OOFF...
RIGHT INTO THE ELEVATOR. yep... thats me. I ran right into the elevator in hopes it would be open quicker then it was. Now lying on my back I started to feel light headed. My vision went blurry and slowly faded to black. I lyed there for a minute or so until I felt a hand grab my arm. My eyes popped open and I made eye contact with Jorden. I didn't have a vision though, he had his glasses on and those were obviously protecting him. "Why are you here? Why isn't there a nurse helping me?" I asked confused. Although I was also glad a nurse didn't help me because I would probably have to tell Serafina about this if they did.
"You fell. I watched you run away from me. But, lucky for you I was close behind. The nurses were going to call for help but I told them I could help you. Now, lets get you in the elevator before things get worse." Jorden explained as he lifted me and supported me as we walked into the empty elevator. "where are your glasses? I told you to never take them off!" He started scolding me.
"Why? I don't even know who you are and you are making no sense!" I started panicking about being alone with him in the elevator.
He hit the stop button and we were now stuck there. "Fine, I will explain." He sat me down and sat across from me. "That car crash happened to me 3 years before on the same day as you. It gave me visions. Every time I make eye contact with someone I can see their whole life in seconds. The samecthing happens to you doesn't it?" I nodded. "Well, I developed a way to protect us. These glasses are special. They keep you from making direct eye contact with anyone. It looks like you are making eye contact but really you aren't. It's too hard to explain but in the short version... you can't change life. We watch it all happen and when I first hot this gift I made eye contact with everyone. I found ways to tell them so they could avoid tragedy. But in the long run... all it did was make them suffer more then they were going to. I learned that by my mom. A robber was going to come to our house in a few minutes and shoot my mom but I got her to leave. Instead, the robber came and shot me and my mom died in a car accident. You need to wear the glasses Raven. They will protect you." After that Jordan hit the button and we started moving again. We didn't say a word. He helped me to my bed and then left. I put on the glasses and watched him leave."Want to tell me why you didn't click the button and had him help instead?" Serafina came in and said a few minutes later. Great, I probably should have thought about that. "So just yesterday you are scared of Jordan and now he is helping you get to your room? You like him don' t you! Oo! I totally called it!" Her face brightened as she thought that she figured everything out. Truth is, yes, he is hot and understands me, and happens to show up exactly when I need him to. But that doesn't mean I like him. He is a total stranger that just locked me in an elevator. Ya, so not creepy at all... Just kidding... "Its ok, you dont have to tell me." She said noticeing that I was hesitant about answering. Truth, yep, I am scared to death of him and how he knows my name and yet I let him help me to my room. No crazy right? I give up... "You must be tired. Go ahead and rest, I will wake you for dinner. Thanks for the cookie by the way! These are my favorite!" And with that she left me too.
