"so you're not coming with me?" indie asked her brother who looked at her sadly, luke was offered a scholarship for music for a few months and he couldn't pass that up. even though the hemmings/evans' were wealthy, he didn't want his parents to use up all their money when he was given an opportunity to take the responsibility himself.

luke shook his head. "you know i really want to but i don't want mum and dad paying for something i love, i worked for it, i applied and i got it. i honestly thought i wouldn't get it but god has its way huh?" indie couldn't help but smile at how mature luke had gotten over the few months of their bonding.

"i'm really proud of you, luke." indie came to wrap her arms around luke from the side, "i really really really  am proud of you." her brother didn't hesitate to hug her back, sighing to himself that his little-by-two-months sister was leaving in just a week.

when indie told him a few months ago that she was leaving, he didn't have a problem because they still had time but when he looked at his calendar and blinked, she was leaving in seven days.

"i can't believe you're leaving," luke whined after pulling away from their sibling embrace. "you were supposed to come with me to australia, now we're going to be in two different continents. we're still going to keep in touch right?"

indie couldn't help but laugh. "luke, we're siblings, not friends, you idiot." she scoffed, slapping him on the back of his head. "of course we'll keep in touch, knowing you, there's no way you're not going to bother me."

luke only laughed because she was right, he was going to taunt her every moment of every day while she was there even with the different time zones. he just wanted to be sure she was safe.

"at least you know i'm your brother and you know what's coming." he laughed, sitting down on the edge of her bed and examining the wall of pictures, one of the pictures being a polaroid of indie and calum, kissing. "are you and calum on good terms?"

indie froze and turned around to look at him, shaking her head. "nope. but it's okay, he's happy, i think." she shrugged, turning back to her bed and continuing to fold the excess clothes she hasn't worn since year eight and throwing them into a box. "besides, it's been what? a month and a half? i think i'm over it."

"you aren't." luke bit back, gnawing at his bottom lip, preparing himself for the argument between them that he knew was going to end up with each other hating one another. "i'm not going to start arguing with you but i will tell you this, brianna and calum are no more. he basically dumped her right in the living room the day you went out with that elliot guy."

surprised, she furrowed her eyebrows. "why would he do that?"

"because he still loves you, you idiot." luke slapped his own forehead, frustrated at how naive she was. "and you're making a mistake by not loving him back, we all know you still do."

there was no point in excuses because she knew he was right, she just didn't want to admit it. "i still do love him of course, i'll love him forever, i even spoke to gemma about it."

"gemma?" luke quirked an eyebrow, he had heard about the little fit that they both went through at school. "aren't you guys not on good terms?"

"she kind of gave me no choice to listen to her..." indie trailed off. "but she made me come to my senses, i still love him, i forever will and...i'm so fucked." she inwardly groaned before throwing herself onto her bed and hugging her pillow, completely done with herself.

"yeah you are." luke chuckled, getting up and walking towards the door, wanting to give her some space to think. "just please don't break his heart, he's gone through a lot and i don't want him hurting anymore." he shut the door, leaving indie to scatter in her thoughts elsewhere contemplating what she should do next.
