Camila's POV
"Watch where you're going Fuck Face!" She spits and I feel a hard blow to my shin. I immediately fall to the cold tile floor of the school hallway, along with my books. I look up to see her looking back at me smirking, but she keeps walking. Fuck you Lauren.
It's been this way for awhile. Ever since I moved here in sixth grade. Five years of her constant physical and emotional abuse. She doesn't even have a reason to hate me. So what if I'm not the coolest and prettiest girl in the school like she is? Doesn't me I should be punished for it.
I collect my scattered books from the floor and get up as well. Making my way to my locker that happens to be right next to Lauren's.
When I reach my destination Lauren is already there, with another one of her "boyfriends" if you can even call them that. She's never had a serious relationship, that slutty bitch only wants sex.
Lauren is leaning calmly against her locker directly next to mine, and the asshole has one of his hands on her waist, the other against the locker next to her head.
Lauren looks upset, probably because this guy obviously doesn't get that he was just a fuck and dump like all the rest.As I undo the lock and crack open my locker to get the books I need, I can't help but overhear their conversation.
"What's wrong baby? Are you feeling down? Cause I can feel you up." He said and I can't help but laugh at his attempt and as soon as the sound leaves my mouth they both turn to me with questioning looks that turn into anger.
"Something funny to you?" The dude, whatever his name is, asks and turns towards me.
I slam my locker shut and face them.
"Yeah," I say and they look surprised that I even said anything back. "I just think it's funny how you think you actually have a chance. You clearly don't get that you are just another guy competing to claim the unattainable Lauren. Judging by the look on Lauren's face you're obviously wasting her time, but you're just wasting yours too, and on a slut like her? So just give up trying to win her heart because this bitch doesn't have one." I hiss at him and they both just stand there dumbfounded.
I shove between them and Lauren scoffs but I keep walking to my first class as quick as I can. I don't even know where that boost of confidence came from but I had to get out of there before I lost it and died.
The rest of the day was weird. Not once did Lauren punch, say, or even look at me. I was starting to think my rant this morning put her in her place. Maybe she was gonna leave me alone from now on. I could already smell the freedom.
The bell rang and I gathered my stuff and put it in my backpack until my Science teacher called me to ask me if I could ever help tutor. I agreed and said I can help whoever.
When I finally got out of the classroom the halls were practically empty, every student was off to start their wild Friday night, while I would just go home like the loser I was.
I was walking through the quiet halls until I was roughly pushed down to the ground. I then took a harsh kick to my stomach and felt like I was gonna throw up.
Clutching my stomach, I looked up to see who it was. Of course. Lauren.
"You better watch what you fucking say you pathetic piece of shit!" She spat and walked away.
So much for freedom.
I lay on the ground for a few minutes, gaining back my breath. I finally decided I should get up before a teacher or janitor finds me here.
I slowly walk home, since the school is like ten minutes away from my house. I finally get there and start walking up my houses concrete path with cracks in it and weeds sticking through them. I look up to see my small one-story house. The paint wearing off and the roof shingles are falling out. My family has never been rich and has never lived in a nice house with a perfect lawn. This is it.
As soon as I unlock the front door and walk through it my legs are attacked by my little sisters grizzly bear hug.
"Kaki! You're home!" Sofi screams while jumping up and down.
"Yep, just like I am everyday." I tease and poke her little button nose. She giggles and pulls away, running to her room.
"Hi mija, how was your day?" My mother asks.
"Great." I lie through my teeth and put on the best fake smile I can.
She doesn't know about Lauren bullying me. She already has to worry about paying the bills, I don't want her to have to worry about me. I know that she would help and I can trust her, because I have the best parents in the world. But she has enough weight on her shoulders right now.
"That's great honey." My mom says and walks back into the kitchen.
I go to my room and shut the door. I toss my school bag on the ground and fall back onto my creaky twin-size bed. I sigh deeply and start to drift off, until I hear my phone buzz, signaling I got a text.
From Dinah:
Party tonight, you should come?C: I don't think so.
D: Please, I really wanna go but I'm too scared to go without you. C'mon Mila you're my best friend.
C: Fine. I hate you.
D: Love you too bitch. I'll pick you up at 8.
I toss my phone on the bed behind me and sigh. What do I wear?
I get up and walk over to my closet filled with nothing but jeans, t-shirts, and hoodies.
This is going to be harder than I thought.
