Ratchet was confused by something, whatever it was. I still can't feel my lower body (no thanks to Ratchet), so she is literally dragging me through bushes, numerous thorns, and at one point a stream. I look up at her and realize that she really is going through hell trying to drag me, a 16 year old teenager who can't feel his legs, while trying not to throw up.
She finally stops dragging me through bushes and stops. "What's got you so worked up?" I ask in a hushed voice. "Nufin. It's nufin."
"It obviously is, you've dragged me nearly 10 miles, and you look like your about to throw up. You better tell me."
She looks at me uneasily and nestles down near me, using my arm as a makeshift pillow. It's a good thing it's dark right now...why am I blushing anyways? I barely know her and Helni does/did this all the time if it was too cold to use her jacket as a pillow. Whatever. I look down at her and she takes a deep breath, clearly unnerved. " You know how I was gone for a really long time this morning?" I nod for her to continue. "Well, the entire time I was walking, everything thing seemed...dead. No animals, no bugs, no nufin. Every time I looked up, there was this humongous bird thing, constantly ahead of me. It seemed almost, human. Anyways, these huge helicopters flew over my head and the crow thing stopped for a second. Someone in the copter shot at it, and it fell for a second. And it just...disappeared. Right after...I just felt bad, like as in I-did-something-I-shouldn'tve-and-now-I'm-in-trouble kinda feeling." Ratchet exhales and rolls a tiny bit closer and falls asleep. I groan into my teeth and force my eyes to rest, swords pressing hard into my back through my thin coat."I can't believe I'm doing this...I gotta..." The young man exhales and tousles his light brown hair and takes in a breath before emptying his pockets and taking off his thick, warm, and comfortable over layer, leaving him in a thin grey tee-shirt and jeans. 'Focus on a dog...preferably a big dog. A big dog would be good'. The young man hisses into his teeth as his molecular structure changes, turning from young man into a large, kinda fluffy German Shepard. 'Haha! I can still do it! For once I'm thankful for the animal DNA.' He grins as best as he can and trots out to Helni. He lets out a sharp (and hopefully non-terrifying) bark, alerting the girl of his presence.
Helni's head jerks up, meeting the dogs gaze. 'Oh god...its gonna kill me. I can see my tombstone now. Helni-death by large dog.' The dog trots up even closer, resting his head onto her shoulder, nose touching her cheek. 'It didn't kill me...FUCK YEAH'. "Well, your gonna need a name as long as your with me. How 'bout...Will? Yeah...that sounds right." Will nudges her elbow and her hand bumps the barely eaten apple. "Sorry Will, I'm not hungry, you can have it." Will growls and sinks his teeth into her wrist. Helni tries to jerk away but gives up, using her other hand to grab the apple, trying to to cry out as the German Shepard sunk his teeth in further. "I'm eating it, alright! You can let go now, Will." Slowly, Will let go of her wrist as she took a slow but sure bite out of the apple. After a while, her hunger won out and she began to scarf down the apple, her chin covered in juice. Will wags his tail and rest his head on her lap. Helni pushes a piece of long, matted brown hair from her face and slowly moves her fingers in repetitive motion on Will fluffy golden hair, drifting off to sleep slowly but steadily.
