Daro who is now jumping over things just for the purpose to piss me off, is kindly leading the two if us to a Mini-Mart. For those of you who don't know what a Mini-Mart is, go die in a hole. Anyways, Daro strides into town, small, kinda sharp sword hidden between his leg and jeans. My guns, on the other hand, include hiding under a thick, heavy black trench coat. In other words, I'm sweating buckets, but I CAN'T LET ANYONE KNOW I HAVE GUNS, even though the population of the town is four, if you include a dog, cat, and the two of us. What? There are cameras! Jeez. Yes, even though the world is being ruled by a screwed up dictator and the US, UK, and parts of Europe are trying not to DIE FROM A ZOMBIE VIRUS. Honestly, is this the best the world can do? Eh. I could care less. Bundling the large bag I happened to being with me against my side, I step into the Mini-Mart, just as broken down as I remember. Humming to myself, I walk up and down the aisles, searching for cheese, milk, yogurt, deli meat, gas for a small stove that is also against my side, a gallon of water, and anything else that is light enough that Daro won't complain about carrying around. He jumped around some more, narrowly dodging obstacles. He knew it would piss me off the edge. He was rubbing in that he was faster and more agile, and that his weapons, dual swords, were more efficient. I was used to it. Humming to myself, I pull out a gun, gently click in some firecracker bullets, raise my arm at where Daro will land within the next 5 seconds, make sure my arm is steady and my calculations are right, pull the trigger, and send Daro into a frenzy. He always forgets that I have firecrackers. Always. Hiding my laughter at Daro's reaction (he looked like a baby, just saying it. Also, he screeched HOLYSHITEXPLOSIONSIMGONNADIE. Like I said. Really, really funny.) under my coat, I continue to pick up food, ignoring the rubble falling off the wall. He'll live.

'Should I walk over to where Daro is? Yeah, probally. He hasn't come up yet from the rubble...'

Panic rises in my chest as flashbacks of the horrible night when our parents died. 'NonononoNonoNONONO!' Silence. Daro's gone. The reality hits me full force as I reach the rubble and debris. A small, choked sob escapes my lips, my chest aching for some little bit of hope, some little sign he's not dead, that he's alive, that he's playing a prank on me. Unable to control myself, I kick the rubble and scream.

I was still standing there two hours later. 'The sun is setting. Zombies will be more active. If Daro's alive he should survive the night. He's got his swords and food.' Numbly, I walk past the rubble, my legs weak and sore from standing. My eyesight is blurry from all the crying. Painfully aware that I might die of depression sooner than anything else, I walk back to the roof of the building we were staying on, ignoring the cameras that might be watching me. 'I think Daro will let me sleep with his summer jacket on.' Putting on the extra layer, I make a small nest of blankets and old clothes, not bothering to eat for the first time all day.
