Daro rolled around uneasily in the small tree. Going up in a tree-highly against it. Sleeping next to a person he just met, a girl too, made in uneasy. It had been like that since he was little. Much unlike Helni, who was basically had no sense of logic or common sense, unless it had to do with computers, he over thought. When he let this girl help him, he wasn't thinking. Well, he was, but not to the normal sense he does. "Imma gonna go get some thing to eat, ok?" He nodded numbly at her. Ratchet scowled at him, unsatisfied with his answer, and jumped down from the tree she had placed/dragged Daro into. Grabbing her cracked branch, she began her search for food. 'Why is it so hard to get food now? Yesterday there was plenty...oh well I guess. Maybe there's food somewhere else.' She continued her trek through the woods, realizing how odd the wood looked. Only hours earlier it was alive with birds and zombies, now it was dead quite, even with Ratchets foot steps falling onto the leaves that were coating the wood. Unknown to her, she was being watched. A girl, who was high above her, killing the animals and plants as she flew in the sky and obliterating them as she went, trying to get Ratchet to go away from where she was trying to go. Now angry at her persistence at going in one direction, she turned back. "Please let this work...please" she whispered under her breath as the flew in the sky, her nimble figure looking like an over sized crow.
The men were confused. They had gotten reports of three survivors in the area, and there was a giant crow like creature flying around the helicopter. "It's not a bird you fuckers! It's one if those projects, the failed ones! It's the bird girl...I'll get her." The largest man said as he pulled out a small hand gun. He held his arm out. He pulled the trigger. The bullet went flying. The girl braced herself. Instead, a portal appeared. The girl was pulled through. At that same moment, Ratchet stood still, feeling weak. 'I need to run. I really gotta run. RUNNING NOW!!' Ratchet ran. She found the tree and climbed. She picked Daro up and put him on the ground, urging him to move fast. And they did. So the plan did work, but not nearly as neatly as anticipated.
The boy sat down near Helni, just out of her vision, watching her carefully. He tensed up as she sat up against the wall and pulled the laptop closer to her, finally pulling it onto her lap. Helni opened the dull until a dim blue light emerged, covering her face in the glow. Her fingers moved quickly, rapidly tapping onto the keyboard. The boy continued to watch, getting weary of her attempts at starving. He reached into the bag beside him and pulled out a bright red apple, slightly dented from his adventure in the city. He rolled it out to her and it brushed gently against her pants, and she picked it up, inspecting it carefully. Deciding it was good to eat, she brought it to her lips and bit in, the sweet juice spread over her tongue, and she continued to eat, not questioning the origin of the apple. She continued working. The boy continued to watch her.
