COMPANY :: JYP Entertainment
JOINED :: 2006 - 2013

Haneul joined JYP Entertainment when she was 10 years old. When she was 16 years old she got transferred to BigHit Entertainment.

While she was a trainee at JYP she kept up with her studies and befriended Nayeon, Jeongyeon, and Jihyo, who are now 3 known members of the nations girl group TWICE.

COMPANY :: BigHit Entertainment
JOINED :: February 2013 - Present Day

Haneul got transferred to BigHit Entertainment after a lot of meetings between the CEOs of both companies.

BigHit Entertainment saw the potential in Haneul after lots of evaluation at her rap, dance, and singing.

JYP Entertainment had no plans to debut Haneul because at the time they were arranging the girl group called 6mix, and Haneul didn't make the cut. So she ended up being transferred to BigHit Entertainment.

When Hanuel arrived at BigHit Entertainment she was the only trainee being trained specially in rapping, dancing, and singing. She was also not able to interact with the other females trainees, as BigHit was planning on transferring the remaining female trainees to other entertainment companies.

The plan BigHit had for her was to add her into the 7 member group after training under BigHit for a few months, since she had already been training at JYP for almost seven years.

Haneul had no idea that this was BigHit's plan for her debut. She didn't know that she was going to be joining a 7 member group of boys, and the boys did not know of her joining their set lineup.

Haneul was actually being specially mentored by Yoongi; one of the members set to debut, in rapping as it was her weakest point. Originally Yoongi did not want to mentor Haneul as he wanted to be a producer at BigHit but ended up in the debut lineup; However after seeing Haneul a few times he grew fond of her and wanted to help her improve. Both parties did not expect her to join the group, and against common belief, were really excited to debut together.

Hana was born into a pretty wealthy family, most of her family going into the medical field. However Hana's parents did not force her to follow this career path.

Hana is the oldest child in her family. Only having a younger brother. They were born in Gwangju, South Korea.

The family of four moved when Hanas brother was born and lived in Chicago, United States due to a job offer from a relative living in the States. When Hana was 7 years old, the family moved back to South Korea, as there was a better job offer made to her parents.

Hana was discovered when her private instructor encouraged her to go busking with her. Hana sang a ballad type song while playing the piano. Watchers recorded and the clip went viral.

She was scouted by a JYP agent who had seen the viral piano ballad duet online. The agent encouraged her to go and audition, so with hope in her heart she went and auditioned. To her surprise she got accepted, from then started her 7 year journey.

At the agency she continued to hone her piano skills, however she had become very interested in rapping. So she took the rap, vocal, and dance classes, leaving her instrumental skills off to the side. Jihyo who was a long time trainee, and one of Hana's closests friend help Hana out when she started to loose hope in debuting.

When Jihyo, and Hana's two other friends Nayeon, and Jeongyeon, were getting confirmed as a part of the group 6mix, Hana was both devastated and happy for the girls.

Around that time JYP and BigHit entertainment had a bunch of meetings. Which resulted in a transfer of trainees. When JYP announced that some trainees will be being moved to some smaller agency's Hana did not expect her name to be the very first one listed.

Tearfully saying goodbye to her trainee friends. She moves into BigHit Entertainment. Hana was delightfully surprised that this agency was closer to her school, as it would mean she has more time to practice after school.

At BigHit Entertainment, Hana felt lonely and isolated as for some reason she was not allowed to interact with the other female trainees under BigHit, and she was given special mentoring by a guy named Yoongi, who was set to debut in a 7 member boy band.

Even after BTS debuted Yoongi continued to mentor Hana. When the 7 boys and Hana were summoned to Bang Sihyuks office, it surprised the 7 members that a girl was joining an established boy band.

Originally Hana was against joining the group, as she determined that the boys already had an established relationship, and fanbase. But after convincing from the boys themselves she agreed to joining the group.
