Miracles

December 19:

A pleasant, fresh cold prevailed over California.
Carina was packing her stuff together so she could leave in the morning. Adriana was progressing and able to walk with some help, no wheelchair needed anymore.

Vic and Travis came around. Carina opened the door and they walked into the living room.
„It's weird. It's the 19. already and she still isn't home.. her house not finished for Christmas and we all know her last days plan. All the games and Movies we watch together." Travis said not understanding why she went into a training camp without the rest of the team.

Carina was still feeling bad about That night. If she knew how Maya felt she wouldn't cross the lines that night. She stood up walking into the kitchen to drink some water.
„Hey could you help me ?" Ri asked Vic. They walked into Ri's room. „Okay Vic what's going on? She left that night and we all know where she goes when she goes out at that time and then the next morning she had work to do but went into a training camp? There is something wrong."

Andy and Robert came back from their short trip. As soon as Carina opened the door Travis asked them if they have heard from Maya.
„No, what do you mean she is gone since the 15. We went on a trip and we are back before her? That's weird do you at least know where she is ?"

„She said she would be in a training camp.. whatever she is doing there without us." Travis answered.

„Robert ? You can find the camp right? I will go check on her.. my best friend doesn't just disappear like this. Especially before Christmas."

Meanwhile Vic was explaining Ri why Maya really left for some days off. Adriana got mad, again but this time she couldn't shout at Carina.

Just when Carina asked Andy if she could go with her searching for Maya, Vic walked in and said: "You better check on Ri, she wanted to talk to you about something, I am sorry!"

Carina knew exactly what was waiting for her behind that door. This time she wasn't prepared.

„Carina? We better leave now.. maybe we can do something until Maya is hopefully back." Travis said while he walked to the door where Andy and Robert just left and Vic followed him.

She walked over to Adriana and before Adriana could start yelling at her and telling her that she did something so wrong she started explaining.

„One I didn't know that she felt this way and you know how good I read people but I just didn't saw it and then the night we were fighting she followed me and I started drinking at home and then my whole body just wanted her to accompany me. She is beautiful and her eyes are mesmerizing. So we were drinking and it all just happened and I don't regret anything of that because it was amazing and I haven't felt this in a long time. It was different with her. When I woke up I was searching for her but she just left so I was thinking that she was feeling the way I felt the night before and when I couldn't find her that morning it hurt. I know I am leaving and maybe it's better this way. We will forget about this, hopefully."

Listening to Adriana's site of the story and knowing that her cousin hasn't said things like this since her ex- girlfriend broke up with her made her anger go away. She opened her arms inviting Carina for a hug.

A few hours later Andy arrived at the camp that Sullivan found. She walked across the meadow and looked for Maya among all those who were training. She found her running rounds with a high tempo so she started running over to Maya trying to stop her so she could talk.

„What are you doing here? I thought you were on a trip with Robert?"

„We were and we came back and everyone was waiting for you.. what are you doing here and could you please just slow down and take a break to stretch or something."

„It felt like I needed some good training days without being interrupted. Felt weak so the best idea was this camp. What's wrong with it I texted Vic when I left."

„Yeah you said you won't be home before the 19. and guess what today is the 19. and this is not normal Maya. The last days before Christmas you have your plan with all the game and movie nights and now you're here doing training that you don't even need because you're a badass. So what happened?"

All these days of running and working out didn't help her forget about that night and the chaos inside of her. She sat down and started to let her heart out.

„And you just left the next morning? I mean if she would want you to leave she would have make it clear as much as I got to know her this month. Are you feeling better here ? No! Running away instead of waiting to see what the next morning brings you isn't the solution. Just come home with me okay it's christmas in a few days and we have a lot of games and movies waiting for us."

„I can't ok? I just need a few days more. I promise I am home for Christmas!" Maya said.

„Just so you know she will leave tomorrow and she didn't look good or happy when she wanted to accompany me here. I feel like she has a few things to tell you, if you let her. Today is the last day Maya don't be stupid. I am going home now and I hope to see you there tonight!" she stood up walking to her car to leave. She sent a text message into the group she opened before she left to search for Maya.

Andy:
I found her she was focused on training and she said she would stay for a few days but she would be home for Christmas. Couldn't change her mind, sorry guys.

Everyone read the message and reading it only made it more worse for Carina than it was before.
„Hey Ri? Do you think we would have found a way to make it work?"
Adriana nodded „Yes maybe you would find a way to make it work but sweetie that won't matter anymore when you leave before telling her how you feel."

„All I can do is pray that she comes back tonight.."

At the camp:
3am and Maya couldn't sleep because she was thinking about everything Andy said earlier. Carina leaving in the morning. Her wanting to accompany Andy and also her wanting to tell her something if she let her. If she wouldn't go home she wouldn't have the chance to let Carina tell her what she wants.  Maybe running away really isn't the solution right now. It's the last night only a few hours left.. can she lose anything else. Her heart is already hurting.

She stood up, packed her stuff and started driving home. Maya knew that the only thing she wanted was to see Carina again. Her heart, her mind, her whole body was craving after Carina.

„Dear Santa, I need your help this year. I - I am in love with her and she was only in town for the holidays a few hours later she is flying away. I don't need another gift I just have one wish .. I really need her to stay for a couple more days can't you make her flight delay? Can you just make it snow in California?"

As if she was heard just like a miracle it started to snow and it got more and more every 10 minutes. It got white all around California and Maya arrived before her whole wish turned into a blizzard/snowstorm. Snowflakes were pounding all around her as if they were having a hard time deciding which way to fall. She ran over into her house hiding from the storm. While she was getting ready to sleep for two hours Carina woke up because of the storm.

She immediately thought of Maya and how she is doing in camp. her heart was beating faster than it usually did. She was worried. She started typing on her phone.

Carina:
Hey? It's stormy outside and I just wanted to see how you're doing.. please let me know asap.

But her thumb moved from send to delete later on she tried going back to sleep.
