-Chapter 14: Heat and Hot Chocolate
"I can't believe how cold it is out here!" Jae exclaims and I watch him jump down from an icy rock. "I almost slipped off that rock. Can you believe that? I'm so clumsy sometimes." He's literally almost never clumsy, but I'll let him believe he is because I'm a great girlfriend.
I laugh. "I think I can believe that Jae. You tend to be very clumsy sometimes but it is cute when you are. I can't believe how lucky I am to have such a cute clumsy boyfriend. Do you ever wonder what our relationship would be like if you weren't clumsy?" I am going to keep going along with this.
"I don't really think about it. I never really noticed how clumsy I was until now." He's literally almost never clumsy, but still going to let him believe he is.
"Well, you're not totally clumsy. That rock is very icy." I point at the rock. "See? It is like it's a pile of ice. I didn't know rocks could get that icy. I've never took time to stare at it and go 'Hey, there is ice on it'."
Jae moves over to me and holds out his hand. "Take my hand."
I did as he said and he pulled me into a tight embrace. I closed my eyes and he rested his head on my head. He is surprisingly very tall for a guy my age. Well, he is one of the tallest guys I have ever seen in school. Some boys haven't even hit puberty yet and that's probably why Jae is pretty tall still.
"I love hanging out with you and I love holding you Cassie," Jae tells me, leaning in a bit and placing his lips against mine quickly. He pulls back, smiling a little. "You're special and you mean a lot to me. I wish we could hang out here all day in the snow but that would make me freeze to death. Besides, my mom makes a wickedly good hot chocolate."
He pulls away from me and I look up into his eyes. His eyes lock with mine and I stare, keeping my eyes locked on his. I feel like my cheeks are on fire right now. Am I blushing quite red right now?
"I love hanging out with you too Jae and I love it when you hold me." I grin as he moves his hand on my chin, holding onto it a bit with it. "Wo-ah, Jae!"
Jae grins. "You're so shy sometimes. It makes me wonder how you acted in your other relationships. Or do I just make you so weak in the knees? I know that you think I'm beautiful and all but that doesn't mean you should be all shy. I'm not perfect. You'll discover that one of these days."
"I already know you not perfect. Nobody can be perfect. If they seem like they are, it's just a mask they are putting on to hide themselves from the rest of the cruel world." There is only two things that are perfect out there and they're not like us.
"Let's go and get some hot chocolate. It is freezing out here."
Jae grabs my hand and he pulls on my hand, trying to take me to his home.
"Yeah, let's get some."

"Hey, how long do you think we're going to date, Jae?" I ask, placing down my cup of hot chocolate.
Jae stares at me, looking up from his mug. "I hope a long time. Why do you ask?"
I shrug. "I'm just curious because we seem to be getting sort of serious lately. We sleep over at each other's houses and we hang out a lot. You're like my only friend right now as well, which isn't a bad thing. I don't mind it."
"I think we are going to be together for a while," Jae responds. "I don't want you thinking that I'm using you or something because I'm not. I really do like you Cassie and I don't know why you are worried about how long we are going to be together. Please just know we're going to be together for a while, okay?"
"Alright, I will remember that Jae." I smiled. "I am sorry for bringing up such a silly thing. I was just curious about how long you see yourself dating me."
Jae nods his head, lips curving upwards into a soft smile. "It's alright."
"Okay, good." I am glad I didn't ruin the moment between us.
"The whipped cream is good isn't it? My mom buys it at the store."
"I love any kind of whipped cream brand, Jae. Well, I haven't tried them all." So, I can't really say that I like them all, right?
Jae stands up and moves over to my side of the table. He leans behind me and places his arms around me, hugging me around my neck gently as he leans against me. He feels so warm and cozy.
"Please don't think of getting revenge on anyone, Cassie. I know you're not saying that you are or thinking of it right now, but I know you want to get revenge on those people for what they've done. It isn't right to be like them."
I turn my head a little, not able to move it much due to his hold on me. "Hm?"
"Let them be. I don't care if they are judging us."
"Jae..." Does he really think I want to get revenge on all those people? I don't want to right this moment. "It isn't like I want to hurt them. I just want them to get in trouble for their harsh words."
Words hurt people. I am hurt by them still, but I am learning not to let them hurt me. With Jae at my side, I have learned a lot. I'm still learning because of him and I'm so grateful for it.
He leans back a bit and brings his lips to mine, kissing me gently with his warm lips. I close my eyes as I kiss him back, tasting the chocolate on him. He feels like a warm chocolate cloud right now to me.
"Hey, don't have too much PDA in the house, Jae!" Eun-su exclaims, laughing a bit as Jae's lips leave mine. "I don't mind the kissing, but I don't want to see too much of it. You two are cuter enough when you're studying."
Jae chuckles, face turning to where his mother is. "Sorry, mom," he apologizes. "I got caught up in the moment I was having with her over our hot chocolate. You make it really well. You're the best!"
His mom laughs again. "Thank you!"
He removes himself from me and I turn in my chair, facing his mother.
"Hey," I say, giving her a little wave. "Sorry about the kissing. I'm a bad influence."
"No, don't say that!" She shakes her head, looking soft. "Cassie, you've been wonderful to him. You know what? You've been wonderful to us all."
"It is true," Jae says in agreement. "We all adore you!"
I look at Jae, my mouth hanging open a bit. "Hey, don't start being too sweet towards me. I'm already melting away as is." Kind of like my whipped topping on my hot chocolate. Literally turning into nothing at this point.
Jae laughs softly. "Sorry, Cassie!"
"I'm going to bake some gingerbread. Do you want to help out when I prep them?" Eun-su asks us and I look back at her, nodding. "You seem eager about it."
"I don't always get to bake something," I tell her. "At least nothing super delicious and sweet. Gingerbread are the best."
"I'll show you how I make them," Jae says. "I can't wait to show you how I make my gingerbread. I love them so much and I love to put icing on them. I give mine a fancy hat."
"He does do that."
"Does he now?" I ask, holding back a laugh. "Well, I would love for everyone here to show me how to bake them."
Jae moves in front of me and holds out his hand, holding it close to my face. "Take my hand and I'll take you to where they are to be baked at."
I look around him and laugh. "I think it is a good idea to take your hand and not get lost. You'll keep me safe won't you?" I look back at him and he nods. "Good."
He grins. "I'm glad you see it my way."
I take his hand. "Me too."
Time to have some fun baking some gingerbread.
