First pov
The bullet never came. I looked up to see Donnie holding the side of his neck. I turn around to see the bullet on the ground. Realization had hit; he was shot. I grabbed his arm and ran the opposite direction of the battle. I sat him down and looked around cautiously. "Tear the p-piece of my mask t-ta-tail." I heard Donnies voice say. I nodded and tore off a large piece of his mask. I tied it around the injury swiftly as to not let anymore blood drip out than there already has. "That should be fine. I'm not good in the medical field, just enough for me to survive." I said. He nodded and stood back up. We walked to another part of the building that had an open door. "Do...you have a place I could stay?" I asked. He thought for a moment and sighed. "I...dont know if my family would trust you like I do. They never met you in a battle for life situation like I already did." He said as he put his hands on his hips. I looked down in shame. "But, I guess I could hold off going home until were both healed up. We can try and find a good place for the both of us to hide out for a while. I mean, my family already believes I'm dead. If I come back unexpectedly they're gonna freak and ask me if I'm alright. Annoying really." He said. I giggled at the thought of that happening. "You arent able to be seen during the day, right? I'll go out during the day to look for supplies while you, at the rooftops, look for a place?" I asked. I have some money and I know most people here are very nice. It couldnt be too hard. "Sounds like a plan. Let's just hope I dont get caught by anybody again." He said, slouched with a grin. I smiled back and nodded as we both went our separate directions. I let him know where I would be so, when he found a spot, he could throw a rock at my direction. I found a lot of supplies that we could work with. I stood outside of the shop until I heard a rock land next to me. I grinned and went to the alleyway. Donnie smile and brought me to the roofs. We walked the way there. It was a small building with alot of space. "We can work with this." "Knew you'd say that!" We set up our things before I went to check on his neck. Peeling the tail off, he winced. "I know. If I grabbed some alchohol to reduce infection this wouldnt hurt as bad." I said as he peeled it the rest if the way. Seemed to have dried up and starting to scab. I smiled and tied it back on. "Its scabbing so it should be fine." I said before wincing as I sat down. I had bruised my butt. I heard Donnie laugh at my childish manner as I had started rubbing my but to reduce pain. After a few hours of talking and playing games, we decided it was best to get some rest before we heard people jumping on the roof. "You know, this would be a good spot to hide from the cops, ya know?" We heard one say. "But why would we? Abandoned places would be their first places to look for us." "Well, we did kill off that crook for stealing money. Wasnt he most wanted or something?" "Whatever, Dill. Let's get out of here." They said, leaving me and Donnie staring blankly at the ceiling. "So...that was unexpected." Donnie said. I nodded, still staring at the ceiling. "Let's just hope no cops come in here, heh?" I said with a grin. He laughed as he lied down on the makeshift pillow I had found. After a while, we eventually fell asleep with no other words.
