Dad chuckled. "That's a good one, Silv" he laughed. Ten-year-old me smiled. We're in the middle of the woods, eating nothing but the rabbit we'd caught earlier while a pot of water boiled over the fire. In other words, our happy place. "Look at that hawk, Dad!" I exclaimed suddenly, pointing at the huge, metallic, bird descending on us (hint. It wasn't a hawk). Dad's eyes widened as he turned around. He grabbed his bow and began shooting at. His arrows bounced harmlessly against the shiny feathers. "Silvia, get in the tent and pull on the lantern hook. Don't come out," he commanded. I ran towards the tent, suddenly scared. "Grab the rabbit and water!" Dad shouted. I did as I was told. The tent seemed dim as I pulled the hook. A quick zip sound came out, and iron encased the inside. I shivered. A few hours later the area silenced. I unzipped the tent entrance and peeked outside. The bird was gone. So was dad.
