"Ahh damn I'm running out of time, I gotta think of a date, gotta think of a subtle date," I said, running a hand through my hair as I paced around my room. "Come on, come on, something subtle that's fun but could also be romantic! Oh! Ice skating!" I said, diving for my phone and sending Tommy a text.

Hey wanna go ice skating? I wanna hang out w u before u go home for 3 weeks lol

It didn't even take him two minutes to respond.

Sure! I'll pick you up

Sounds like a plan, see u in a bit!

Grinning like an idiot, I pulled on a warm sweater, tying my hair back in a red headband this time, before waiting anxiously by the door for Tommy to show up. A few minutes later, my doorbell rang, and I stepped outside, giving Tommy a grin. "Hey!" I said. He laughed, ruffling my hair before grabbing my arm and pulling me to the car. "Aw the matching headbands again! Love it. Anyway, let's go! You're right, I've only got a few more days to spend with you, might as well take advantage of it!"

Heart melting, I sat in the passenger seat, chatting with him as we drove to the ice rink. "So are you good at skating then?" he asked, and I shrugged. "I'm decent! How about you?" "You know, I don't think I've ever been skating. So I guess we'll find out," he said with a smile. We walked into the skating rink and he immediately nudged me in the ribs. "Oh look, we're not the only couple here!" he said. I looked over and sure enough, Eric and Bruce were skating together, chatting happily as they did. "Damn, they're actually good," I said absentmindedly, and he nodded. "Yeah. But hey, if Bruce is that tall and can skate well, then I'm sure I'll be fine!"

Despite his confidence, he was definitely not fine, and nearly fell the instant he stepped onto the ice. Laughing, I caught his arm, holding him upright. "You'll be fine, huh?" I teased. "Okay so maybe it's not super easy," he said sheepishly. "Nah, it's easy! Look, just glide, don't step, like one foot in front of the other! And you can hold onto me for support," I said, feeling my heart leap as he clutched my hand. "Sounds like a plan."

"Damn don't look too shaky there!" Eric said with a laugh, skating backwards past us. "Aw come on babe be nice, he's trying," Bruce said giving us a smile as he glided effortlessly past us. "Yeah shut up Eric you've got it easy! If you fall it's fine since you're already a lot closer to the ground!" Tommy said with a grin. "Hey! I resent that!" Eric said, before skating over, grabbing my free hand and pulling me away from Tommy. "Come on, if he wants to be smug he can be smug on his own," he said, skating with me across the rink before immediately dropping my hand and giving me a smirk.

"You're not subtle at all," he teased, skating in a circle around me. "What're you talking about?" I snapped, feeling my face start to burn. "Unlike Tommy, I'm not oblivious. You think I don't see you looking at Tommy the exact same way I looked at Bruce for years before we started dating and ended up getting married and stuff?" he asked, smirking. "I dunno what you're talking about." "Eric and Tommy sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" he said in a sing song voice, and I gave him a shove. "You're so immature." "Just admit it! It's so obvious you've got a huge crush on him!"

"I don't...shut up! Shut it! You're gonna give it away!" I hissed. "Mhm that's what I thought. How's it going then?" I shrugged, face going redder. "I dunno. I think it's going fine. How'd you...how'd you tell Bruce how you felt about him?" I asked. "Oh, I didn't!" he said cheerfully. "What?! But-but you were the one who fell in love with him first I thought!" I cried, and he nodded, huge grin on his face. "That's true! I was totally smitten with him as soon as he replaced Mark on tour. But I was also a huge coward and I got Gene to confess my love to Bruce." "You..." I started, and he nodded, letting out a sigh.

"I got Gene to tell him I loved him. Like, he walked up to Bruce and said 'hey, Eric really likes you but he's too shy to tell you himself. How do you feel about him?' and thankfully Bruce said yes. So we started dating! And now we're married and I love him," he said, blowing Bruce a kiss across the ice rink. "Just like that?" "Yep! I don't recommend it though. What's your plan?" "Um...take him on a bunch of dates and hope he falls in love with me?" "Seems like a solid plan! Anyway, good luck!" he said, giving me a wave before gliding smoothly across the ice, picking up Bruce's hand and pulling him into a kiss.

Tommy stumbled over to me, giving me a grin and almost falling again. I caught him as he slipped, holding him upright with a laugh. "Real smooth there," I teased. "Hey! It's because my legs are so long!" he protested. I raised an eyebrow. "Really? You're gonna use that excuse when Bruce is over there doing like spins and stuff?" "He doesn't count, he and Eric do this all the time." "Well hey, it's a good date," I said with a shrug, hoping he'd pick up on the hint.

"Yeah, they're cute together! I mean hell, they've been married for what, two, three years? You'd hope that after all that time they'd be cute together," he said, and I bit back a sigh. So maybe he didn't quite get the hint, but hey, he was still holding my hand regardless. Eric and Bruce skated over to us, almost obnoxiously good at it. "We're gonna head out, Eric wants to take a sleigh ride or something," Bruce said, and Eric stuck his tongue out at him. "You say that like you didn't think it was a great idea," he grumbled. "It was nice running into you guys! Have fun," Tommy said, and I nodded. Eric gave me a wink, stepping off the ice with Bruce.

"Hm, a sleigh ride. That kinda sounds like fun," Tommy said absentmindedly, and I nodded. "Yeah, maybe we should like take one tomorrow or something," I said, and he nodded, giving me a grin. "Yeah, let's do that tomorrow! I'm looking forward to it!" he said, giving my hand a squeeze as we took another slow lap around the rink.
