Peter sprinted down the hallway. The door ahead of him slid open as he approached, and he grabbed the doorframe, spinning into the cafeteria.
It was thankfully so loud that no-one even noticed his entrance. Well, except Flash and Enfys, but Flash seemed too busy to care for once and Enfys was already approaching him.
"What happened to being here at the scheduled time?" she asked, looking unimpressed.
"Sorry, sorry, I was talking with dad," Peter was already looking for Ned and MJ.
"Fine. But don't make a habit out of it. This may be your house, but right now I am responsible for you. Got it?"
"Uh-huh," Peter said, "Can I go?"
Enfys still didn't seem very happy, but said, "Sure."
Peter went to get himself some lunch then joined his friends at what was becoming their normal bench. Jordan and Ned were talking animatedly about termites, Aya was scowling at Flash, and MJ was reading.
Business as usual, then.
"Have you read this?" MJ greeted him.
"Uh, what is it?"
MJ lifted the book enough for him to see The Sidekicks.
"Nope."
"You should."
"I'll get on that."
Peter shovelled his food into his mouth while listening to Ned and Jordan. He was nearly done when his phone buzzed on the table. It was a message via Stark Chats, from none other than Shuri.
it is time, fellow goblin
Grinning, Peter stood and lept over the table, sprinting to the door.
"Peter? Peter! What happened to duty of ca-"
Enfys was cut off as the door shut.
"I don't get paid enough for this," Enfys let out a resigned sigh. The cafeteria was in various states of confusion around her.
"I'm pretty sure you don't get paid," Nicole, across from her, said.
"That's the internship, not the tour guide part."
Nicole hummed, "You have a point."
Enfys' phone buzzed, and she reached to check it.
"Oh, that's why he went running off. I gotta go, catch you later?"
"Sure thing. Have fun!"
Enfys rolled her eyes, "I wish. This is more stress then fun. Apply for a position as tour guide, they said. It'll be great, they said. So many eager young minds, they said. I don't even know what's going on half the time."
"This isn't exactly the definition of a normal field trip."
"Yeah, okay, you're right," Enfys stood and raised her voice, "Midtown tech, if you could please follow me! I have been notified of a spontaneous activity we will be attending."
"But I haven't finished lunch!" Vanya complained.
Enfys internally sighed, "We will be coming back, so don't stress."
After corralling the students, Enfys led them out into the hallway, following the path she knew Peter had most likely taken. Somewhere behind her, Flash and Viv started bickering loudly.
...she was not paid enough for this.
Yes, The Sidekicks is a real book by Will Kostakis. Gave me MJ vibes, so I used it.
A POV from one of my OCs????? It's more likely than you think. I just hope you're all comfortable enough with Enfys to accept a snippet from her POV.
