"Here's your crash-course on how to use the scanners. I take my card, tap it to the scanner, and walk through. Like so!" Enfys followed her own instructions and walked through. A monotonous voice said, "Lloyd, Enfys. L-10-B. Access granted."
Flash pushed to the front and all but slammed his card down on the scanner. "Thompson, Eugene. L-10-O. Access granted."
Meanwhile, as his class was walking through, Peter was panicking. When he'd last come in through this way, names and whether you'd been let through were announced, but not the levels!
Ned walked through. "Mini-Boss Two's Sidekick. L-10-B. Access granted. Welcome back, shall I alert The Green Dude?"
"No thanks, I'm on a field trip."
"Sure thing."
Finally it was his turn. He lightly tapped his card to the scanner and walked through. "Mini-Boss Two. L-10-A. Access granted. It is a pleasant surprise to see you using this entrance. Would you like me to tell Boss you're here?"
Peter winced as he felt the gaze of his classmates on him, "No, thanks, FRIDAY. He already knows."
"Of course."
"Well, then, okay!" Ms. Cassano said a little too cheerfully, "Enfys, where are we going next?"
"Woah, hold on, who was that voice?" a student asked.
"That's FRIDAY. She's the tower's AI. Say hello, FRIDAY!" Enfys replied.
"Hello." FRIDAY said, causing multiple students to jump.
"If you're ever lost, just ask FRIDAY. She'll help you. Won't you, FRIDAY?"
"Absolutely." FRIDAY said again. There was a pause, then she added, "Mini-Boss Two, you have an incoming call from Bird In The Vents. Accept or decline?"
Peter sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. Already this trip was getting to a rough start. He knew that if he didn't accept, Clint would come down in person, so he reluctantly said, "Accept."
A 3D hologram of Clint manifested in front of him. "DUDE!" he exclaimed loudly, then leaned closer, "I just heard from the blond gramps that you-know-what will be going down today! I don't know when, but I pulled some strings with Tony and if he keeps his word we'll be on the same team!"
"Cool. I, uh, I gotta go. See you later?"
"Sure thing little dude. WE'RE GONNA WIN THIS TIME! WHOO!"
Realizing that Clint wasn't about to do it himself, Peter said, "End call," and the hologram disappeared.
There was a long, painful pause of Peter staring at his classmates and his classmates staring at him. Thankfully, before Flash could pull off his usual tricks, Enfys clapped her hands for attention.
"Okay, follow me then! Into the elevators!" she herded them all inside, then knocked on the wall, "Level 72 please, FRIDAY."
"Sure thing." the elevator shot up, until it opened with a loud ding. Everyone filed out.
Enfys walked down the hallway to a door that hissed open when she tapped her card, leading the way in.
Gasps of awe and excitement rose from the class as they entered. Peter looked around, blinking with wide eyes.
They were in a large, airy room with a wall of windows on one side. There were a few couches facing a large TV, beanbags near the window and some armchairs around a small, round wooden table.
"This is where you'll all be staying! There's a door next to the TV that'll lead the way to your rooms. You'll each have your own. I'll be waiting out here as you set up."
The group of kids swarming past made the floor rumble, and Peter found himself caught in the crowd. He fought his way free, walking to the end of the hallway. However, Flash cornered him.
"Okay, Penis, who's dick did you suck to get that card?!" he demanded.
"No one's!" Peter replied indignantly, at the same time MJ said, "Yours."
"MJ!" Peter said, looking alarmed.
Flash sneered before turning and walking away, "I'll find out, Parker."
"What room are you guys in?" Ned asked, "I'm T-1B."
"Uh, T-1A." Peter said.
"T-1C." MJ checked her card.
"Huh." Peter scanned the hallway, "T-1 and T-2. That's it."
Ms. Cassano walked past them, gave them a quick glance, and vanished into T-2.
"Alright, let's give this a shot." Peter tapped his card to the scanner next to the door of T-1. It slid open. MJ and Ned followed him inside.
There was a small but spacious room, with a couch and a TV mounted on the wall. There was a mini-kitchen tucked into the corner and a bookshelf. Three doors led away on the far side of the wall, each with either A, B or C written on the wall.
"Oh, nice!" Ned breathed. He rushed over to door B, tapped his card and vanished, shrieking with excitement.
Peter looked at MJ, who shrugged and disappeared behind door C.
He glanced around again. He had a strong feeling this was intended to be teacher's room, considering Ms. Cassano had gone into the other one. It would also explain the extra living room. A space away from the students.
Peter walked over, and tapped his card on the scanner on door A. It slid open, and he stepped through.
The room had a king-sized bed on one side, a workbench and a wardrobe. One wall was sheer windows, letting masses of light stream through. Peter noticed that the workbench had an iron man mug on it, holding down a piece of paper. He dumped his bag on the floor and walked over, picking it up. It read:
Thought you and your friends would like your own space.
Love,
-T.S.
Peter broke out in a grin, rolling his eyes. Figured.
He walked back out to Ned exploring the mini-kitchen, and MJ sketching on the couch.
"Dude, this is so cool!" Ned exclaimed when he saw Peter, "Did Mr. Stark do this?"
"Yeah," Peter said, "thought we would want our own space away from the rest of the class."
"Neat!"
There was a rapping on the door, and Enfys's voice came through, "We're continuing the tour!"
"Sure thing!" Peter replied, and Enfys presumably moved back up the hallway.
