Jonas woke up like it was morning, ready to begin another day of biking. But he was not in the forest; he was in the big, bright room. Fiona was there, who seemed very different from the other, talking to another boy that looked like Asher. They turned around to look at him simultaneously, making him realize he had said the name out loud.

"Hey, uh, did Fiona tell you about me?"

"No, I didn't, he knew my name too," Fiona stated quizzically.

Jonas cleared his throat, trying to give a short overview of the situation. "I'm Jonas. Gabe is the baby. We split from our community. There was a Fiona there too, and an Asher. Gabe and I biked for two weeks with no food. It was extremely cold. Where is Gabe?"

"The baby's just in the next room." Fiona explained, "He's doing just fine. We can get you both some food and clothes."

"No!" Jonas shouted. "I need to see him."

"Okay, I'll see what I can arrange," Asher replied.

As soon as Asher left, Fiona sat on the side of the bed next to Jonas.

"Are you okay?" She questioned.

"I'm just worried about him. He scarcely made it. It's all so newfangled. There are two of you!"

"I don't know. This is very weird, you know that? Asher and I were just leaving our volunteer hours at the hospital when we found you toppled over on the floor with Gabe. It frightened me. How old are you? Was there truthfully a community out there?"

"That's a lot of questions." He stated quietly. "I'm 13, and yes, there's another community. But they are different. Corrupt. Wrong, even. Their way of life just isn't right."

Abruptly, the door creaked open before Fiona could respond to what Jonas had told her. A nurse was rolling in a small bed on wheels, containing a small shivering Gabe.

"Jonas!" The little boy cried, a bit diffidently.

It was clear that Gabe had eaten, but he was quivering with uncertainty at the strange newness of this place. Jonas shakily moved out of bed and clutched Gabe in his arms.

"Gabe," Jonas whispered, "We made it."
