school was a pain.
everyone smirking at me, even some giving me high fives and congratulating me. some were glaring at me, angry that they didn't get the "privilege" of being crushed on by the hottest girl in school.
little did they know, my heart belonged to the boy who sat beside me.
me and george were hanging out for a bit after school before going home.
we live in the same neighborhood, though our homes were in different directions so it was quite a distance from eachother's houses. we usually went home together. it probably played a role in us being so close, as we used to walk to and from school together. now we take our cars, because our high school is rather far from our neighborhood.he offered a potato chip from the bag he was eating. i shook my head to decline, and he shrugged. "suit yourself."
we sat in silence for a few minutes, except for the sound of videos and content on our phones as we both scrolled lazily.
from the picnic table we were sitting at, i observed a squirrel climbing up and down a tree, in search of food probably.a movement beside me startled me, before i looked to the side and a madison brown was sitting next to me. fuck.
"uh- hi?" i stuttered, startled. george beside me looked rather confused.
madi adjusted her white tube top. she was holding a pink cardigan in one hand, probably taking it off to try to show off her body."hello." she said, noticing george but quickly ignoring him.
"uh, what are you doing here? don't you go home right after school?" i asked, wanting nothing but for her to walk away.
she cleared her throat.
"don't you wanna ask me something?" she asked, a bitchy expression on her face."uhh, no? we don't really talk.." i explained, making it obvious i wanted her to go away.
she looked at me dead in the eye, looking both defeated and annoyed.
"you aren't gonna ask me out? haven't you heard?" she asked, running a hand through her scalp.george was holding in his laughter, and madison looked annoyed at him.
"i- uh, i'm gay." i muttered.
"you're what?" she asked, not sure if she heard him right.
"gay." i repeated.
the expression on her face was priceless. she was shocked with a hint of embarrassment.
"you? gay? but you don't-" she started, but i cut her off.
"sorry, yeah, gay. i don't like girls." i stated, giggling a little at her expression. i noticed george pursing his lips as to not make a noise.she simply stood up and stormed off.
once we both knew she was gone, i looked at him and he looked at me. we both burst out in laughter.
"'hey, ask me out!' 'i'm gay.'" george said, mocking the conversation. we both just chuckled for a good minute about it before calming down."it's like out of a movie. the popular girl has a crush on a boy, but plot twist, he's fucking gay!" george laughed.
"that's what i said. what are the chances that the ooo rich, popular and hot girl likes a fucking gay?" i said, going back to scrolling through my phone. there was some silence before deciding to go home.
