Olivia's Pov

I rush into first period, 15 minutes late. It's my least favourite lesson so I made no hurry to get there, but I got help up so I'm later than I thought. I run into English loudly, causing everyone to look round. My teacher, Miss O'Reilly, coughs loudly into her hand.

"Sorry I'm late Miss," I say sarcastically, because I'm really not.

"Sit down," she tells me through gritted teeth. Miss O'Reilly can't stand me and my mates. We are by far the worst and we keep getting worse at English.

"What have I missed?" I whisper to Sara.

"Nothing interesting," she whispers back. I sigh and lean back in my chair, wishing this lesson was over.

Macey's Pov

I pay no attention Miss O'Cowface (Miss O'Reilly) as she babbles on about this weird new poem we have to study. This one is about a hunchback in a park. Usually, I love poetry but this topic has been a bore. So far, we have not studied one poem which I've heard of which is saying something because I've read pretty much every poem ever written.

I'm working on a new piece when Miss walks over and rips it from under my pen.

"Does this look the sheet I handed out?" She demands holding my masterpiece in front of me.

"I don't know, is it? You've given us so many I've lost track," I say angrily.

"Detention, for down right rudeness!" She says, ripping my poem in half.

"What the hell!" I yell, sitting up my chair.

"An hour after school," she says not looking round. I sigh and lean back in chair, angry.

"Ignore her, she's an idiot and can't recognise a good poem when she sees one," Olivia whispers from behind. I smile and hope this lesson is over soon.

Sara's Pov

I'm enjoying a nice nap when I'm awoken by an angry teacher. "Am I boring you?" Miss O'Cowface asks with her face screwed up into a weird expression. I'm about to answer, when I realise that someone has filled my mouth with bits of paper. I sit up and spit them out, glaring at Olivia.

"Liv!" I demand, angrily brushing paper off my tongue.

"What? Your mouth was wide open I couldn't help it!" She laughs. I turn around and see Macey and Remi laughing to.

"Detention, both of you," Miss O'Reilly says turning back to the board. Me and Liv groan loudly.

"Tut, tut both of you. Second detention this week," Remi smiles, unaware of Miss O'Reilly's gaze.

"And you can join them, for talking in class," Miss O'Cowface tells her. Remi slumps back in her chair clearly angry. She cares about school more than the rest of us, always trying to learn, so getting detention really bugs her. We all turn to our work, hoping we can keep our detentions down this lesson to one each.

Remi's Pov

We collect our detention slips and trudge to our next lesson. The others aren't to bothered by it but it really gets to me. I've been trying to stay out of trouble recently but it always seems to find me.

"Hey, it's no big deal," Macey tells me.

"I know but I promised my dad that I would try and stay of detentions and improve my track record," I complain, really annoyed at the whole situation.

"Look, you're as smart as hell, a few detentions isn't going to affect you," Olivia states.

"I hope so," I say under my breath and we head of to our next lesson. Science.
