"So, you will be here in a few hours?"
Yuri had been conversing over the phone with someone for the past ten minutes as the last of breakfast was finishing on the stove. The purple-haired girl had called this individual to ask for an important favor; she knew that she had a long day ahead of her, and the more help that she could have, the better. Their conversation was brief, but successful, as the recipient was more than willing to stop by and assess the situation.
"Of course, Yuri! I don't want you to worry about a thing; I'll do everything I can to help," an airy voice on the other end of the phone replied cheerily.
"Thank you so much!" Yuri sighed, relieved. "This means a lot to me; you're really helping us out!"
"What else am I here for, right? I gotta get going; I'll see you later, sweets!"
"See you later."
"Love you!"
"Love you, too."
Yuri hung up the phone and took the last of the pancakes off of the stove; they joined the previously prepared eggs and bacon in the oven, so they could stay warm. A huge weight had been lifted off of her shoulders as the first part of her plan succeeded. Yuri was aware, however, that step one was the easy part. The rest of this Saturday wasn't going to be easy, but Yuri wanted to have a nice morning before her cousin came at around noon. That's why she woke up early to fix a delicious 3-course breakfast for her and her new girlfriend and had an anime marathon set up on the TV.
Girlfriend...It was still really hard to believe, hard to understand. Were they actually girlfriends, or was it too soon? It had only been a day, after all. Is she supposed to formally ask, or is it just assumed? Those were just a handful of the many questions that raced through Yuri's mind that pertained to her newfound "relationship." She was rather inexperienced in the area of romantic partnerships; even though she had had a partner in the past, their relationship was far from conventional...or happy...or safe.
She shook the thought as she approached her bedroom door. That was a dark time for her, but it was in the past. She had someone far, far better now. Her smile was one of relief and of pure joy as she laid eyes on her sleeping partner. Her back was towards Yuri, and her feet were sticking out from under the covers. Her shoulders rose and fell with the gentle breaths she took.
So adorable...Yuri thought as she approached the bed. She sat down by Natsuki's back and lightly shook her shoulder. "Wake up, Natsuki," she cooed, trying to coax the girl from her slumber. However, she was confused to see that Natsuki wasn't budging.
"Natsuki, come on. Wake up," she said, shaking her a little harder. Nothing. Yuri was confused; Natsuki had previously complained of being a light sleeper during club meetings, but as far as Yuri could tell, she was still knocked out. Is she alright?
That's when Yuri finally decided to peer over Natsuki's shoulder to get a look at her face, and she almost burst into laughter when she did. Natsuki's eyes were lightly scrunched, her eyebrows were slightly furrowed, and the corners of her mouth was twitching in a way that indicated that she was trying not to smile. Yeah, she was awake, and she was clearly messing with Yuri.
"Natsuki~" Yuri sung, leaning in a little closer. "I know you're awake~" Natsuki still didn't budge, but it was a little harder to contain her grin. Yuri kept playing along, trying not to laugh herself. "Come on, Natsuki! It's time to get up! I have my ways of getting you out of bed; don't make me use them~!"
