Waking up to the sound of a distant buzzing, then Lucas tossing and turning until finally pressing the off button on his phone screen. I catch a glance of the blinding light emitting from the screen and see that is 5:30 am, bright and early for training. Usually, I would feel groggy in the morning, but today I feel excited to get back into training with others. My wolf has been begging to be let out since the match with Ian. I've been on a few patrols since then, but she wanted to get her paws dirty.
I quickly take a shower and make my way downstairs after getting dressed, making sure to grab a bag for my gym shoes and an extra change of clothes. I make my way to the kitchen, hearing many voices coming from down the hall. I'm greeted with a little over a dozen pack members either sitting at the counter or waiting in line for a plate of food. Yuna and a few other people cooking on the industrial-sized cooktop. Lucas came into the room shortly after me, I'm guessing from his office. Everyone turned and greeted us with a hello, Yuna making her way through the crowd to hand us two plates full of breakfast food. Until then, I hadn't noticed that no one else in the room had food on their plates yet. Two men got up from their seat stand offered them to us. I was reluctant to take them at first, but they both insisted.
We sat down and began to eat, and everyone else lined up next to the cooktop with empty plates in hand, ready to fill their stomachs before the rigorous training that's planned for today. After everyone had the chance to finish their meal, Lucas instructed them to meet in the main training area. We gave them a few minutes to return their dishes and head outside before we joined them. I told Ian to gather some strong wolves that would be up for a challenge when they're training. The group that stood in front of me looks like a healthy pick, ranging from 7-foot tall muscular warriors, to a few younger men that look full of determination. A few females also stood at the front of the group. One I've seen before, Yuna, the other two are new faces to me.
"Alright everyone, I want you to pair up and get stretched out. It's going to be a long day, and I'm not going to take it easy on you so let's get going." I said to the crowd. I hear a murmur of 'yes luna' as they split into twos.
"You sound ready," Lucas said next to me with a smile.
"I'm excited, It's one of the first days I get to work with the pack. Training has always been one of my favorite things anyway, it takes my mind off of things and I get to use my power as I wish." I reply as I take my shoes off, getting ready for the first match.
"Who have you picked to go first?" He gave me a side glance as we both stretch next to each other.
"I want the strongest one, I want to start off with a challenge. It'll show them that you always have competition, no matter how strong you are." I smirk as I eye him up.
"Oh yeah? And who do you think is the strongest?" He looked at me with a grin on his face, already knowing the answer.
"We both know who that is." I finish my sentence and stand up, facing him directly. "Everyone pay attention. This example will show strength vs power, keep a close eye on every movement we take, it could give you an advantage in the future." I announce to the group as they gather in a circle around us, creating a ring for us to fight in.
We both take our stances, I nod to him, initiating our battle. Lucas was quick to make the first move. He wasn't going easy and I didn't want him to, that wouldn't be fun. He took a few quick strides towards me to close the gap, I put my arms up in front of my face to shield myself from any attacks he might throw. I was expecting him to come in quickly after his fast approach, but he pauses, standing up straight. I lower my arms and give him a questioning look. His eyes looked like he was fighting with himself.
"My wolf doesn't want me to fight you, he doesn't want to hurt our mate" he whispers through our mind link.
I chuckle to myself, shaking my head. "You don't have to worry about that, you'll be lucky if you get one good hit on me," I told his wolf.
His eyes suddenly change to something of determination, he wants to prove me wrong. He crouches down with his arms out in front of him, Now he's ready. A smile crept upon my face, now it's my turn. I didn't give him a second to think about his next move by the time I was behind him, using inhuman speed. I kicked the back of his legs and he fell to his knees. I got behind him and put my hands on his shoulders, he quickly grabbed my wrists and stood up, using the momentum to throw me over his head. I landed on my back with a thud, effectively knocking the wind out of my lungs. I sat in shock for a moment waiting for the black dots in my vision to clear, a few gasps emitting from the crowd as I lay on the ground. I took a gulp of air when my lungs could do their job, Lucas now leaning over me with pride on his face. I closed my eyes for a split second to ground myself, when I opened them, Lucas looked worried.
I took this moment to catch him off guard, rolling back onto my shoulders in between his legs, I grab his ankles and pull them out from underneath him. He falls face-first into the grass, just barely getting his hands on the ground before hitting his face. I stood up and placed a foot on his back, his immediate reaction was to reach behind him and grab my foot. Simultaneously rolling to his back, making me lose my balance and end up sitting on his stomach. My face turned a light shade of red when I noticed the position we were in but quickly became even more flustered when he then sat up. He grabbed my wrists and pinned me down underneath him, a snark smile drawn across his face.
"I win" he spouts.
"Not yet." I fire back.
His face turned to one of surprise when I shifted into my gray wolf underneath of him, forcing him off of my body. Everyone around us bowed their head in submission when I growled towards Lucas. It wasn't an aggressive growl, nor a threat. I was messing with him, and he knew that. His eyes lit up at seeing my wolf and he immediately shifted into his own. I lowered my head to the ground, as did he. We both circled around each other for a minute, our snouts still pointed to the dirt. I make the first move and nudge his chin up with my nose, giving me access to his neck. Using some extra force, I throw him back onto the ground. Now his stomach is exposed and I jump on to of him, he tried to get up but I pressed my paw into his neck and placed a restriction spell on him so he couldn't move. It might seem like cheating, but in a real fight, you use all the resources you have to gain the advantage.
Once he realized he couldn't fight against it, he let out a beat huff, turning his head to the side to show his submission. I released the spell and removed my paw from his throat, when he stood up I licked his face and he returned the gesture with a defeated gruff. The crowd of warriors around us cheered on my victory with shouts and whistles. Some look fearful, seeing as this female wolf who just joined the pack, became Luna and then made their alpha submit in front of them. I feel bad for Lucas, he must feel a little defeated seeing that it was probably the first time he has lost in a while, let alone being forced into submission in front of his pack. But this is only the beginning, there is plenty more training to do.
"Well done Luna, that's one of the shortest fights I've seen in a while, especially with an alpha." Yuna spoke out from the crowd.
"Well one of the most important factors in winning a fight, is knowing your opponent. Whether you've known them for your entire life, or it's the first time you're seeing them, you need to study them. Know their strengths, their weaknesses the ins and outs of how they move. You take them by surprise, and you win."
