Scarlett

We were driving for about twenty minutes. Every passing minute we were getting closer to downtown Vegas. The sun was just about down, leaving us with just a smidge of color to the sky. It was breathtaking.

Phoenix's thumb rubbed gently against the back of my hand in little circles as we drove. It wasn't too long until we pulled into a parking garage. I looked around the area, but I still wasn't sure where we were going. It could be anywhere since there was so much to do here, especially at night.

As I went to reach for the door handle, Phoenix stopped me. "Ah uh, I got it."

I softly smiled with a subtle shake of my head. He hopped out, running around to open my door. "Well, aren't I lucky," I said as he helped me out and to my feet.

"I would say the same thing about me," He slid his arm around me protectively, walking us over to an elevator. I wasn't about to do stairs with these stinking heels.

When we got to the bottom level, we walked out onto the sidewalk. I was scanning around us and waiting for him to tell me where we were going, but we just kept walking. "Oh! Is it Olive Garden?" I exclaimed.

"Dressed like this?" He asked with amusement on his face.

"Hey, I went to Olive Garden before prom, so yes, actually."

He let out a deep laugh, pulling me in tighter against him. "Okay, true, but no, we are not going to Olive Garden. You did guess sort of right though, because we are having Italian."

"We are?"

He nodded just as he stopped us and led me down a few steps towards a canal that flowed between buildings and shops. We stepped down a couple more stairs until an older man in a black suit with a blue tie, probably around the same age as my dad, smiled politely over at us.

"Mr. Zeller?" He looked at Phoenix.

"Yes sir, that's me."

"Wonderful! Good evening to you both. I'm Robert, and I will be your gondola driver tonight."

We greeted the kind man before he took us over to a gondola floating on the canal.
