It's been 2 hours since I began waiting for her to wake up, and in that time I have come to several realizations about the rogue. I've also decided what to do with her.
I'm looking down examining my nails when movement catches my eye from the window. When I look at the rogue she isn't moving. I continue to stare and that's when I see her hand twitch.
"Finally"
I rush out the room and back to the torture room. When I enter she is in full panic mode her body thrashing about trying to escape the restraints.
I run over and press my hands to her torso in an attempt to hold her down "Hey calm down" I try to sooth her by speaking softly and slowly.
She stops her movements and her eyes train on me and I can see confusion before finally recognition.
She opens her mouth to speak " Yahh zzz ola dre aghhh" Drool drips out of her mouth as she attempts to make words. I have no clue what she is trying to say. One of her eyes drifts back into her head while the other stares right at me in a daze.
"What the fuck?"
I gently shake her shoulders. "Rogue what's wrong tell me so I can help"
She tries to talk again. She opens her mouth extra wide but only lets out a cringe worthy nails on a chalkboard low squeal and her one eye begins glowing vibrantly.
I step back in horror flinching at the assault on my ears. I can only think of one explanation for her actions. I damaged her brain with the high voltage shocks.
After a few seconds of squealing she starts choking on her spit and from the putrid smell of it I think a little bit of vomit, while laughing hysterically.
I don't know what to do. I stand back helplessly at a complete lost, staring at this probably permanently damaged woman. Would Doctor Gage know what do?
As suddenly as the craziness began it stops. Her noises stop, her eyes level and appear to focus and she is completely still. I approach with caution.
"Are you OK?" her face is now covered in drool, blood, and vomit but besides that she looks OK.
She looks over at me "My wolf ands I togetherrr in my heads" Her words are slurred, but at least their actually words now.
"What do you mean?"
She closes her eyes for a moment. I can see her take deep breathes in and out. When she opens her eyes she seems even more composed.
"I'm not sure how to explain it." her voice is no longer slurred, its now a scratchy whisper. "I could feel both my wolf and I attempting to gain control in my head. Two consciousness can't exist at the same time one has to be dominant. We fought and it messed up the signals being sent through my body. I didn't have control of anything." She grimaces and I can see lingering fear in her eyes. I think she may have almost lost the battle to her wolf.
"I'm sorry" my words hang awkwardly in the air. Even to my ears the apology sounds inadequate " I didn't mean to....." I can't finish my statement guilt crashes over me stealing my breath. I press my lips firmly together.
"Don't be" She looks down at her body and whispers sadly
"I wanted to die"
"I know you did" her eyes snaps to mine.
While sitting in the observation room I finally realized why she seems so familiar to me. It's because I had personal experience with some one like her. The look in her eyes is the same exact look James held when he first arrived here, full of self-hatred and shame.
