until next time

Three weeks have passed and it's graduation day. All those years of suffering in school have finally ended. Everyone hugged each other for the last time and the school we used to call school isn't our place anymore. We're just strangers in a school. I walked towards Hendery and he hugged me. "It pays off. We did it" I smiled, hearing how this all turned out well.

"Let's have dinner together," he asked but I just looked down since I don't have any more time to spare. "I'm afraid I can't. I have to go" I said and patted his shoulder. I'm a trainee now, and it's against the rules. He just forces a smile and replied with "It's fine. There's always a next time" I nod and he stood up from seating on his desk.

"I'll see you when fate allows. I'll miss you, Yang yang" He gave me a last hug and patted my back before leaving me in the classroom, an empty classroom where we used to call our home.

I sighed and look out of the window to see the weather. Heavy rain started pouring down and I just watched how students started laughing and running out of the school with the weather like that. A student then started running out of the school and realized right away it's Hendery.

He ran towards a girl and hugged her from her back. They both chuckled under the rain and started holding hands while walking out together. It was her, Luna, and Hendery. He didn't told me that they're dating. But all I can do was only watch and be happy for them.

I walked out of the school and came across a few staff from the company to pick me up. I looked at the certificate of graduation I had in my hand while they gave me a bouquet of flowers to congratulate me.

Someone I trained with came out of the car and patted my shoulder. "Congrats, Yang yang" It's Donghyuck who said. They probably fetched him after his graduation before me, that he's still wearing his uniform.

They took few pictures of us, standing in front of the school with the bouquet of flowers and my certificate. It's a relief that everything has come to an end.

5 years later

It's finally the day that I'm old enough and the company finally allow me to live in my apartment I purchased last year. I looked around the dorm one last time and waved goodbye to Donghyuck who was seating on the dorm's couch.

"Come visit me soon!" He rolled his eyes, annoyed that at how happy I am to leave the dorm last since Donghyuck got out first. I finally walked outside of the company's dorm with my luggage. I put on my shades and a staff took my luggage from me to place them inside the car.

After going through my media socials, we finally reached the place. "Hold up. I'll do it myself, you can go now" I pulled out a smile to the staff while grabbing my luggage from them. My manager then came out of the car and looked above the apartment.

"You sure you won't regret living here?" I turned my head and tried seeing whatever he's seeing. It may be a cheap and simple apartment but I really love the view from here. "I won't manager-nim" he replied and I looked at him before he nod.

"Don't stay up too late or you'll oversleep and make it a habit. Get used to living alone, okay?" He bid me goodbye and I slowly stepped into the elevator. I pressed the highest level button and the elevator doors then closed.

From what I knew, there are only two residents at each level. I looked outside the elevator since it's made of a see through glass thinking about how unexpected to see myself living here.

I entered my house and grinned all by myself to see how much I ever looked forward to a house for myself. The house's wide and bright, naturally from the sunlight. My boxes are all gathered at the side of the huge window in the living room.

I walked towards the window and opened my shades. I sat on my piano chair and slowly getting rid of the plastics that were wrapped around the piano. I placed my fingers on the keyboard while removing all the specks of dust away. "I made it, mama," I said underneath my own breath.

My phone suddenly rang and I answered it, knowing it's the extra ass kid, Donghyuck. "How is it? You liked it there?" I can hear him munching from the other side of the line while asking. "It's really beautiful. I can see you from here" I laughed while glaring outside the sunny sky.

We talk for a bit and I end the call, to buy some food at the convenience store nearby the apartment. I went inside the elevator while leaning my head on the glass since it took the elevator so long for it to reach the basement. I quickly walked out without looking around my surroundings that I accidentally hit someone's shoulder that made something the person held dropped.

"I'm sorry for that" I quickly picked up her items and realized she actually dropped a leg-sized canvas. "It's alright" She grabbed the canvas from me and bowed before leaving my sight.

She looks familiar. I turned right away to see her and from her hair itself, I could recognise. "Luna..." I whispered to myself and stopped myself from dazing off. I walked out of the building and went to the convenience store. I bought three of the same instant meal and went home to eat it there.

While waiting for my food to heated up, an old memory started passing by my mind. Hendery. It's been a while since we've talked after our high school graduation day. I took out my phone from my pocket and tried searching for his number.

It's really that long ago that I'm not sure if he's still contactable. I'm sure enough he has seen me on the television or on ads, but why has he never contact me? It clearly means that it's my fault, right?

Hey. It's been some time.
How are you? Let's meet up soon?

I finally texted him first after so long. He must've been successful by now. Probably even married? Or have children? I took out my food from the microwave and sat on the floor, opposite the television while finding a great show to kill my time.

Since my comeback has finally ended, I have some time to spare for myself. My phone then started buzzing, indicating there's a new message.

three new messages from hendonkey

That's fast. I opened my phone to start reading his texts.

This is so shocking!
After so long? 00Late?
At 7? Can't wait to see your ugly ass.

I saw him and chuckled. 00Late was our favorite spot to grab a drink together. I closed my phone and continued eating while watching the show on the television.

9.39 pm

"So, you stopped contacting her?" I asked, a person opposite me with his suit on him, and a side combed hair. A lawyer whose directly opposite me, nodding. I looked away in confusion. He continued after taking a sip of his hot coffee.

"We dated for a year. I started losing interest in her and there's actually nothing amazing about her anyway" He said but I just can't do anything but to just stay silent. I don't know what's this feeling inside of me that's getting so mad about whatever he just mentioned. Everything was just a coincidence, from the start.

I looked outside of the window, staring blankly at the road that's filled with moving cars and people walking back and forth.

"Until next time. Call me if you need anything" Hendery patted my shoulder and leave. I finished my drink and decided to walk around the street before going home. I walked past few shops and made myself enter a store I've walked past before.

I'm standing exactly where I used to be. Outside of the store, coincidentally watching her, on last year's Valentine's day. She was laughing and smiling with a guy. It's probably her lover, after Hendery. Life must've been lucky for her.
