"So you mean we can't go outside, mum?" George asks, his voice somber. Molly clicks her tongue and turns away from the window in order to stare up at her son with an apologetic look.
"The storm is just too angry, dear. It wouldn't be safe to let you children go play outside," she explains. We all sort of deflate in disappointment. George the most out of us all. "But not to worry, it should clear up by tomorrow at the latest. Until then, busy yourselves with things to do inside," she chirps enthusiastically before weaving herself around us and heading into Arthur's workshop down below.
I sigh, looking down at the ground in disappointment. It was barely a minute before George's arms were wrapping themselves around my waist and pulling me flat against him. I look up at him with a sad smile. He couldn't even muster one.
"I'm sorry we can't go outside, my love. I really wanted to make this week exciting for you," he expresses, looking more upset and more annoyed by the minute.
You see, this was my first time visiting the burrow. My first time meeting the family. And George was extremely excited, as was it. But he was absolutely thrilled to an extent I didn't even know excitement could go. He had been hyper for weeks on end. He spent most of his days planning activity after activity for us to do the week we planned for me to come. He wanted me to officially meet his parents and elder siblings and he wanted us to spend the entire week having adventures. He wanted to make that week worth it. And he thought that us not being able to go outside was going to jeopardize that constant atmosphere of fun.
I shake my head, smiling softly and moving my arms up to hang around his neck. I start playing with his long hair.
"We don't need to play in the snow to have fun, Georgie. We can do something inside, just like Molly said," I assure him. He gives me a doubtful look.
"Like what?" He asks plainly. I narrow my eyes at him playfully before softly pushing him away so I can turn in a circle to look at my surroundings and try and find something for us to do during the storm.
I see Ginny lounging on the couch, throwing the snitch I had bought for her birthday up before catching it. We couldn't exactly go outside and play quidditch.
My eyes fall onto Harry and Ron playing wizards chess in front of the fire. Ron, as always, seemed to be winning. I definitely didn't want to play against Ron at wizards chess and I'm sure I would lose to anyone anyway. I was absolute rubbish at the game.
I look to Bill next who was in a darker corner reading a book. He didn't exactly look like he wanted to be interrupted and I know George wasn't really a reader.
I furrow my brows as I turn to the stairs. Fred and his girlfriend had gone up them awhile ago. I didn't really want to go up and check to see what they were doing. I had a certain idea and I don't think anyone would appreciate interrupting that.
Charlie was also home, but he was exhausted from the long travel and I don't think he would be interested in doing anything with George and I.
Percy was... somewhere. He hasn't talked to me much and he didn't seem to be the chatty and adventurous type.
As I'm about to face George again, my eyes almost pass by the kitchen. Almost. An idea struck me, instantly bringing a smile to my face. And whip around to face George, excitement radiating off me.
"Baking," I state. George raises a brow, looking unimpressed.
"Baking?" I nod in confirmation.
"Baking," I affirm. He waits a moment, obviously waiting for me to explain. But I don't as I try and hold back my laughter.
"And what about it, love?" He asks curiously. I grab his hand and slowly start guiding us to the kitchen.
