They crossed through the void and were high above Greenland in a single heart beat. They flew lower and the girls were impressed by the beauty of the land and sea. Unni sat behind Karliene for this flight and was positioned slightly higher on the dragon's back. Their long hair streamed behind them as they moved noiselessly thought the air. "That area fits Bjorn's description of his colony," Karliene said as she pointed.
"Let's land and walk around," Unni teased.
"No way lil' sis. We're not dressed for visiting."
"It would be so awesome if we could just flash them," Unni said, "no one would ever know it was us."
"I would have never guessed you were a prankster," Karliene teased. She had to admit to herself that she would love to partake in a little mischief.
"Huldra are notorious pranksters," Loki volunteered innocently.
"Well it's a good thing we are invisible," Karliene said.
"We don't have to be invisible," Loki said. Unni responded by smiling brightly. Karliene turned to her sister.
"Lets be bad," she whispered. Unni looked at her sister. She nodded then smiled.
"OK, lets do it, just one time." Loki flew very low and slow. The members of the little colony were walking about engaged in activity when Loki uncloaked. The dragon overflew them as Karliene and Unni waved. Then before anyone on the ground could react Loki cloaked again.
They were all still laughing when the dragon touched down on the sand of a beach. "This sand is soft!" Karliene said as she flopped down on her back.
"And pure white too," Unni said as she joined her sister.
"Welcome to my island," Loki said.
They spent much of the afternoon splashing in the warm clear blue sea. Karliene leaned with her back against the dragon and watched her sister build a sand castle in the wet sand of the beach.
"Did you ever take your cave back from the trolls?" she asked. Loki looked surprised.
"Not yet. Haven't seen the need."
"What about all your treasures?"
"The back of the cave is sealed buy a huge rock. My stuff is safe."
"Couldn't they just move it?" Karliene slid next to Unni and helped scoop out a moat around the sand castle. Loki laughed in response.
"I fused it closed. But you or your sister could squeeze through. It would be a little tight... If you can get past the trolls."
"How big is the cave?" Unni joined the conversation.
"It's huge. A large rock rolls to act as a door. But the back half is the best. It has warm pools and an underground river. The walls are luminescent and have a blue green light."
"Tell us about your treasure," Unni asked excitedly.
"Oh, it just the usual kind of treasure. Lots of shiny stuff. I also collected blankets and furs, some tools and swords. Much like the stuff in my ice cave."
They continued to speculate about the cave despairing of the stinky mess the trolls would most definitely leave behind. Loki had no plans to evict the current tenants as he felt his treasure was secure. It was getting late so they reluctantly mounted the dragon for the flight home. Their little thermal pool had been abandoned by the village boys and Karliene retrieved their basket, brushes and clothing. They dressed, brushed their hair and braided it.
