This stupid shrill sound was buzzing in my ear, but my body felt like lead so I didn’t move to see what it was, I just turned my head and buried my face deeper into the pillow. It rang and rang and rang, I just wanted it to stop. I was having a great dream, and now I can barely remember what was happening. I remembered that there was a girl… a hot girl, and a moose.

Why was there a moose in my dreams?

Again, the ringing blasted through my head and I groaned, wanting to stuff the pillow in my ears. Though I decided to actually grab the thing that was making all the noise and held it up to my ear after pressing the green button.

“Hello, this is Justin Case. From state farm.” I answered the phone tiredly, I was almost slurring my words. Not paying attention to the thundering footsteps coming from the room just down the hall, I didn’t even notice when Garret walked into my room. “I like khakis and long walks on the beach… Did you know that calling me saves you 15 minutes can save you 15 minutes on car insurance” I don’t even think I opened my eyes, just sat there, practically sleep talking on the phone. “Garbo the Gecko from Geico will be with you shortly.” I thought out loud, talking about Garret. Then suddenly, My eyes flash open as deadening pain shot through my unsuspecting arm. “Sweet Jesus, have mercy.” I groaned, clutching my arm as my phone slid across the room.

“Pay attention… And stop being lazy.” Garret muttered tiredly.

“You’re just upset because you left without getting any last night.” I muttered and suffered the wrath of another fist to my arm. “Fine, fine. Hand me my phone you little…” I groaned.  When my phone was back in my hands from having it knocked out when Garret decided to once again acquaintance my arm with his fist, I hadn’t looked at the caller ID yet. But now, as I stared at him, my eyes went wide with horror. I didn’t think, I just did the first thing that would come to someones mind in a panic.

I hung up and threw my phone across the room.

I starred across the room at in in horror as Garret trudged out of the room with heavy steps and frustration, I barely was able to focus on that though. I counted my breaths and heartbeats that were rapidly increasing as I panicked.

That was them…. That was the parent’s… And I just talked like a drugged up alcoholic. This was bad, this was really bad. They’d probably tell me to stay away from her now, that they wouldn’t want me to even meet her after that.

I couldn’t move. I couldn’t even blink.

Then suddenly, I’m woken up from my stupor by a bucket of ice cold water.

“Cold! Cold! God dang it, that’s cold!” I screamed, hopping out of the bed and shouting like a girl. “Ice… Garret… Ice?”  He just shrugged his shoulders, looking very nonchalant about it. I sat there for a moment, disbelief and shivers settling in, then it happened. He saw my Cheetos. “No, Garret… Mine, back up, don’t you even- Garret!” I shouted as he snatched the bag of cheeto’s off my dresser and backed away from me.

I jumped up in the bed, whipping the sheets up with me as I stood and started to twist the sheets into a whip.

Garret’s eyes go wide and he quickly grabs the bucket from the floor and shoves it over his head for protection.

“To war!” I shouted just as Garret took off towards the door.

I jumped off the bed and tarted to dive towards him, only stopping at the door once I hear my phone start to ring again, the sound itself made me stop cold in my tracks. I stared at it in horror and then looked over at Garret, then back to the phone, then to Garret again. He smirked at me as he lifted the bucket off his head to where he could see, knowing he had the upper hand, then starts to each my Cheetos. I frowned in frustration and then whipped him with the sheets, then went for the phone as Garret threw my own chips at me.
