Chapter 17: Throw Down

The helicopter swings to the side as the door opens, as Fisher leads the way repelling down from one of the two ropes. Dokkaebi and I were quick to follow landing on the roof of the military base, our guns were up quicker than light ready for any fight. The only one to fire was Fisher as he gunned down a soldier that nearly shot at us, he quickly reloaded his rifle and moved along the roof towards the door. I ran ahead getting my shield up, the door was small but made of steel. I took my hammer and swung once knocking the door off it's hinges, getting my gun up I entered. Inside was a large open area filled with military vehicles, we were on a large catwalk that viewed over everything. To the left on the other side of the large building was a large concrete and steel door, but at the moment we had company. 

Thirty or so soldiers fired at us from multiple areas, I aimed my slug loaded shotgun and fire at a few of them. Zero and Dokk fired around me killing some and pushing others into cover, extending my shield the three of us moved along the catwalk as Ash and Zofia fired from outside the door. We moved along the catwalk as my shield took fire, they never stopped firing until they needed to reload. The soldiers fell back to better cover with few of them taking any hits doing so, once we got past the corner we came to a flight of stairs. Descending my shield we rapidly moved to the ground floor, Fisher and Dokk took cover behind a large truck to reload and ready their frags.

Fiend: I'm going to push them keep me covered.

Zero: Right!

They both tossed a frag over our cover detonating knocking a few limbs off the GIGN guards, after this I bolted towards them firing my weapon hitting the soldiers, their cover and the ground around them. It shook the soldiers pressing them into the open, our soldiers above that now moved onto the catwalk helped eliminate the rest of the soldiers. I checked the room quickly before waving my hand giving the all clear.

Ela: *over coms* Lesion, Kapkan and myself will hold the building here. The rest of you move ahead.

Fiend: *into coms* Understood, lets go.

Zofia and Ash came down over to us, behind them was Thermite. He ran past us to the door and placed one of his charges of the door, he smiled and walked past me holding up the detonator.

Thermite: Everyone ready?

Dokkaebi: Hit it.

He looks to each of us before raising his hand holding the detonator.

Thermite: A really big fucking hole coming right up!

One click and the charge starts to spark up, I extended my shield letting Fisher and Dokk get behind me. The other three took cover elsewhere behind the vehicles as the charge melted the steel, I watched as the charge blasted open the door sending a shockwave back. The sound was near deafening, my ears rung but I was determined to push forward. The dust started to settle taking away any impairment on our sight, at high speed as a charging vanguard we marched into the unknown. A tense aura fell over us, with our presence and whereabouts declared the situation was dire. Inside was a long hall with a few turns, it felt like a lab setting with sliding glass doors marked in French. The large windows infront of each room let us look inside, most were filled with equipment and materials of unknown origin or use. 

Dokkaebi: What the hell is this place?

The other three moved in behind us ready for a fight, as they got a look they seemed as surprised and concerned as us.

Zero: They're probably developing a weaponized version of the Chimera virus, seems like something the masks would do. I imagine the farther we go the more horrors we'll find.
