Life is like a good dream. You have the time of your life, then its over in a flash.
All good things have an end. Like now. I was always the victim who everyone picked on. The loser. The teacher’s pet. What did I do to deserve this? I don’t know. But I sometimes wish I wasn’t a goody two shoes and decided to try to get extra credit. Little did I know this would turn my life upside down.
It all started with the science experiment. I had an extra credit assignment to experiment with solids. I didn’t have to do it, but I did anyway so I could please my teacher. Turns out that putting milk with apples was a bad idea. I was in the bathroom doing my business when Mom called, “is this supposed to make smoke?”
“I’m not sure,” I called back. Then I heard a scream and then of crash. Smoke poured into the bathroom. I quickly opened the door, but a blast propelled me right through the open doorway and a broken window. The ground just got closer and closer. Then everything went black.
I woke up to the smell of acid and smoke. Whats happening? I thought. Everything was blurry and I had a pounding headache. Wait… I thought when I remembered what happened. I coughed out some of the ash, adding to the smoke cloud surrounding the house. I checked my health bar: three hearts. Oh no, I thought. One blast from a creeper and I was dead. I’m sure I saw a glowing figure beyond the tree line. I turned around, not ready for what vision lied ahead.
Glass littered the ground, along with debris. They sat at the foot of my house. Well, more like a crumbling ruin. Door hinges destroyed. Broken windows. Personal belongings everywhere. It felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest as I surveyed the scene. I shook my head, unable to process all the information. I immediately regretted turning around. Suddenly, I got a thought. Tears welled up in my eyes. “Mom? Dad?” I yelled. All of a sudden, my leg erupted with pain. I turned to see a few shards of glass stuck in my leg. Explosions rocketed from the house, shards flying everywhere.
I screamed, as my health bar went done to one heart. I grabbed a dirt block and used it to shield me from the rain of debris. After a few minutes, the explosions stopped. I limped to the rubble to find things I could salvage. All I could find was a carrot and my dad’s old wooden sword. I tucked the sword in my inventory and ate the carrot. As my food bar came up, my health bar increased. “What do I do?” I moaned. I started hobbling toward the sun. Who knows if I'd even stop.
