So... hehe... sorry☹️. I was pretty busy with procrastinating and the 3 big projects I was assigned (even though the teachers were specifically told not to give us work over the break but ITS F I N E E E ). I just couldn't think of how to start this chapter but I hope it works! I tried to give you a longer one to make up for it. Anywhoo, hope you like it! (Sorry again😬)
Patton's POV:
I waited eagerly in my car for Virgil to come out. (🏳️🌈) I drummed my fingers on my knee and smiled at him through the passenger seat window as he jogged down his apartment steps, headphones hanging loosely around his neck, and hopped into the passenger seat with a small smirk and 'hey'.He pulled off his messenger-style bag as he crawled in, handing me his ukulele so he could get comfortable. Once he was settled, I handed him back his ukulele.
"Thanks," Virgil said as he got buckled, "You ready?"
I tried to smile normally but couldn't stop the worry from seeping onto my face.
"Yeppers!" I chuckled."Stop worrying, that's my job. " Virgil said with a comforting smirk. He might've been bad with emotions, but he was always good at comforting me. We helped each other that way.
"And besides, I've heard you sing, you're a natural. And hey, if they let me in, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to let you join."
"Yeah. Yeah ok," I tried to hype myself up enough to start the car. With a deep breath, I turned the key and started down the street feeling a bit better. Only a bit.
"So! Did you learn all their names?" I'm not the most informed when it comes to who the popular kids are, and I don't really care. I just try to be nice to everyone I see and always try to make someone's day, I don't really care whose it is.
"Well, there's Remus, he was the one in the green jacket. And then there's Janus, his boyfriend,"
"Black beanie?"
"Yeah, and then Logan-" I shifted in my seat and Virgil quirked an eyebrow mischievously, knowing me all too well and easily reading my more subtle hints.
"What was that?" He asked and I immediately flushed and scrambled for something to justify my reaction."Er- um he's uh, in my science class. Yeah!" I smiled sheepishly as we turned onto the Princetons' street.
"Is it chemistry~?" Virgil batted his eyelashes at me and I scrunched my nose playfully in response.
"And then there's uh- ehm there's Roman," Virgil turned to face the window to hide the small blush dusting his cheeks. Unfortunately for him, I can read him just as well and smirked mischievously which seemed to scare him a little.
"Ooh, rrrrroman~" I purred and wiggled my eyebrows seductively.
"Wha- shut up! Pay attention!" He pointed out the house and pulled his knees up on his seat, trying to hide, and maybe suffocate while he was at it. I just laughed and turned back to the wheel as we pulled into the driveway.
I gulped as I pulled the keys out of the ignition and Virgil looked up at me, concerned. I stared way too intensely at my feet and sighed, hoping that it would somehow release my stress along with it.
"What- what if I'm no good?" I dropped my head. I need to get myself under control or I'm gonna breakdown in front of Lo—everyone.
Virgil put a hand on my shoulder comfortingly. "Patton, you are the best singer I know, and I believe in you. You're really talented and they're, surprisingly, really nice. And worst case scenario, you make a couple friends and other than that everything the same. I'll try and get you in the friend group. If they even want me around."
