Virgils POV:
We were in the music room in the corner, avoiding people as best we could, and were so far succeeding. I was showing Patton the lyrics for a song I'd written when they walked in. They're not the most popular group in school, but definitely the most judgmental.
Remus Princeton: Romans twin, he's overall just pretty...chaotic. He's dating Janus, that poor guy. He's very impulsive, and very vocal about his opinions...or really any thought that slips through his mind.
Roman Princeton: probably the most popular of all of them, Remus's twin and not too happy about all the random and chaotic shit he does. A true thespian, currently single but it probably won't last long. Everyone's always fawning over him. He's creative and quick witted, and a bit of a jerk.
Janus Dean: some how dating Remus. He seems to be able to control him though. The most sarcastic. Defensive and scary as hell. He owns a pet snake so that's cool. He's judgmental and cold and just overall done with everything.
Logan Barry: By far the smartest. I'm pretty sure he Janus's cousin or some shit. He's pretty good at tech. He's totally hated by all the teachers. Probably 'cause he could easily steal their jobs. Pretty bad with emotions, not even sure he knows how. He's usually very logical, but will gladly whoop your ass if necessary. You don't see that side of him too often, but I saw it once when someone was picking on his little sister. He broke the dudes nose.
They're just as scary separately as they are together. No one dares touch them. They could really do some damage but no one dares test that theory. And of course, they chose the music room. Why wouldn't they! God! Can't a guy just eat and complain in peace!
Patton was ranting about his math quiz and how his brother refused to help him.
"Shit. Pat," I tap his leg and he looks over his shoulder at them.
"What? It's fine, it's not like their gonna notice us or something." He reassured, seeing the freight on my face and chomping on his sandwich. Just then, Roman made direct eye contact with me and I froze.
"Oops, I think that was my fault..." He said rubbing the back of his neck, guiltily.
They ended up stationing themselves on the small stage.
" ok so, Remus on drums, Janus on base, Logan... you do your tech whatchamacalit stuff, and I'm lead singer." Roman said and Logan just shook his head and fought the erge to comment on the fake word."One problem," Janus pointed out. "songs?"
"What about them?" Remus was slightly confused as always.
"Where are we gonna get some?" Janus answered, taking his hand.
"We'll have to recruit someone. It's too much for one person to do. If one of us did it plus our own position, and school and any extracurricular activities-." Logan stated.
"We get it, we need someone else," Roman cut Logan off. "Well, who do we know that can write?" Remus went to say something but was cut off by Roman. "Who can write well."
Remus shrugged smugly, "worth a shot."
Patton's face lit up upon hearing their conversation.
"Patton no!" I said, trying to calm down his excitement and my spiked stress. He looked like he was gonna burst and I'm pretty sure so was my heart."We could do flyers or something, I dunno." One of them, I couldn't really tell who, suggested. I was too panicked to pay attention cause I knew he couldn't hold off much longer.
"HE WRITES SONGS!!" Annnnd...he burst. I shrivelled and turtled in my hoodie.
"What? Were you two eavesdropping?" Roman asked, a mix of anger, intrigued and annoyed.
"Um, well no- I, you.. were- well uh... you need a writer! And he can do it! He's really good! I've read all of them! Some are... angstier than others." Patton said, fumbling to pull himself up off the floor from his crossed leg position. "But he's got real talent!"
Roman shared some glances with the others.
"You. Come here." He said, now addressing me. Oh god. I tried to act as calm and cool as possible and internalized all the stress that was not so slowly consuming me. I wanted to disappear. We made our way over to them, my hands shoved in my pockets as far as possible.
"What's you're name?" He asked as I pulled out my phone and opened the notes app, redirecting my attention as an excuse not to have to look him in the eye.
He snatched it as soon as the lyrics were on the screen. He read over them, scrolling a little further every so often. The others peeked over his shoulder, reading. Patton and I just kinda had to stand there awkwardly as they read. My palms were sweaty and Patton kept giving me reassuring nods and extra peppy grins.
"Hmh. Not as bad as I'd thought it'd be."
"The sense of rythme is..." Logan searched for the right word. "superb. As well as the unique structure."
They exchanged looks and eyebrow raises.
"Fine. You're in." Roman said, still pretty hesitant, "146 acres street. Blue door. Can't miss it. 3:30 tomorrow. Don't be late or you're out. You still have to audition before you're 'officially' in the band."Holy shit. What was happening?! I never thought they'd ever even talk to me let alone want me in their band!
"W-Wait, really?" I stammered.
"Unless you don't want to." He confronted with an eyebrow raise. There were shadows on his face as he towered over me that were in just the right place to make him seem very intimidating.
Don't get me wrong. We're about the same height. He only slightly taller, not even a full inch! But that little amount felt a lot bigger. I felt very small.
"NO! Uh- I- mean, no! I'd love to! Heh he!" God Virgil! You look like an idiot. I went to lean on a random music stand beside me that wasn't screwed in right and my elbow slipped and I stumbled. Correction: you are an idiot!!
Roman gave a small scoff but it wasn't his usual snarky one, it seemed more... genuine? I dunno. Wishful thinking I guess.
"See you 'round emo nightmare!" He gave me a small two-fingered salut as they left.
As soon as they were out of sight, I groaned and face palmed.
"Gah! Why! Am i So AWKWARD!!" I shook my head back and rubbed my face dramatically. Patton grabbed me by the shoulders and turned me to face him, glowing.
"OHMYGODYOU'REINABANDWITHROMANPRINCETONHOWISTHISHAPPENINGDOESTHISMEANYOU'REGONNABEPOPULARNOWPROBABLYNOTBUTATLEASTYOUWONTBECOMPLETELYINVISIBLEOHTHISISSOGREATFORYOUYOU'REGONNAMAKENEWFRIENDS!! GAHHHH!!!!!" He was jumping up and down and he wasn't even in the one in the band.
"Patton! Calm down! I'm not even in the band yet, which I probably won't be. Don't get over excited!" I said, barely holding back my smile. I can't help it, he's contagious!
When he saw this he poked my cheek, squishing it.
"Stop it!" I laughed, pushing him off me.
Just then, the bell rang and we made our way back to our lockers to get ready for fourth period.
Huh. This might actually be fun!
Ok, so I made a few edits cause some parts didn't make too much sense so I hope this is a bit better!
