An Almost Perfect Day

Been days of marathon
Giving all my time for you alone
Chats over the phone
Talks at the void deck
Letting you in
Sharing my life and my stories

Going without sleep to my event
Knocked out without your text
Woke up to my day
Your text came and again we arranged

Went to a church that wasn't mine
But still it felt blessed
Almost felt like maybe this is hope
Who says love can't happen this way

Drive me home to do my chores
You waited patiently for me
I was flustered but you were sweet
Calm me down and make a new plan

We ended up at a big blue pool
Swam laps in between chats
Your eyes seemed always on mine
Reading my every expression that day
A certain moment was shared as we dive deep into the pool
Trying to hold our breath
We both knew it wasn't the water that took our breath away.

Got some wine and a movie to chill by the poolside
Just as things were great, a call came
That's when I saw for the first time
How harsh you can get
Mostly to cover the insecurity hidden within
Oh, why won't you fight instead of pushing away?

In the midst of anger mixed with sadness,
A hug and kiss was shared
We cross a line that day
We swore never to cross it again
little did we know...
