Part 5

Part 5:
Once back at the station Chloe walks directly to Ella's labb. She was actually curious about what it was that Ella had found, Because so far that had come out empty handed. "Hey Ella, what have you found?" I ask as soon as I enter the labb.

Ella looked up from whatever it was She was doing and gave Chloe a smile. "Aren't a bit eager?" Ella says and gives a small laugh. "Well it is nothing really exciting But it is more than we have come up with before. I was going over the victim's email once again to see if I had missed something. And when I was scrolling through his old email he got a New one from an anonymous sender. Look." She turned the computer before her around so Chloe could see it. "It's a threat. That basically says that if he doesn't pay back his deps within 24 hours he's dead."

Chloe looks up from the screen after having read through the email. "Well it seems someone was more eager to get the job done. Do you think you can trace the sender?" Chloe asks and looks up at Ella.

"Already on that, We should have an address in a few hours." She flashes a Pride smile to Chloe and She returns it.

"Great job Ella. Alr..." She was cut off by someone calling her phone. When She sees the caller id see is quick to pick the phone up and walk out of the lab, before entering the first empty interrogation room. "Amenadiel! Please tell me you have found something." Chloe almost begs when she is sure She is alone.

"Well sword of. We haven't found the antidote yet or the formula. But We did find some of the poison." Amenadiel says and Chloe's heart immediately drops to the floor.

She lets out a deep breath trying to calm her spinning brain. "Alright, um... I don't..." She trails off not knowing what to say so as not to sound too angry.

Amenadiel seems to understand her unspoken words Because he continues "I thought that maybe if We gave what's left of the poison to Ella She could examine it and come up with an antidote?" He says with a bit of insecurity in his voice, not being sure if that's how it works.

Chloe finally seemed to get what Amenadiel was trying to say and practically jump off the chair She just had sat down on. "Amenadiel! That... that could actually work. But it is a long shot. Do you think you can keep looking? You know... just in case We came up empty handed." She says the last part in a lower almost sad voice.

He seems to catch the small hint of sadness in her voice, Because he says the following words in a soft and gentle tone. "Of course Chloe. How about We meet up outside the station in 5 minutes and I will give you what's left of the poison?"

"Yes that will work, Thank you Amenadiel. See you soon." She says and hangs up the phone. Chloe leaves the interrogation room and walks over to the labb. "Hey Ella I will be right back, just gotta get some stuff." She says standing by the door.

Ella looked up at her, a questioning look on her face and lifted an eyebrow against her. "Alright."  She is all She says before turning her focus back on the computer on the table before her.

Standing outside waiting for Amenadiel She somehow slowly starts to lose hope. Maybe Lucifer was right, there's No time. I mean it has already been a day and the only thing They have been able to find is the remains of the poison. Chloe can feel the tears burning at the back of her eyes and She quickly shuts them to keep the tears in. She takes a deep breath before opening her eyes again. When she does She sees Amenadiel walking against her and She gives him a waiv.

When he reached Chloe he could immediately see her concern, But he didn't want to pressure so he settled on asking. "How is he?"

Chloe took a deep breath before looking up at Amenadiel and meeting his eyes. "Not great, it seems to get worse for every passing hour. He barely eats and sleeps most of the time. But it seems like the hurt or that burning feeling he was talking about have slowed down. It's still there and he is hurting. I can see that... But it doesn't seem to get any worse." She says looking back down on her feet again.

"He will get through this Chloe. He is stronger than you think. Especially when it comes to you." Amenadiel says and places a hand on her shoulder as he says the last part. "He would do anything and go through both hell and heaven if it meant that he could be with you Chloe. Don't you doubt that. And I know that whatever happens, Lucifer will never let Michael get near you or Trixie."

Chloe isn't able to fight the tears any longer and as They escape her eyes she throws her arms around Amenadiel, sobbing quietly against his chest. "I can't do This Amenadiel, I can't. No matter what I do we still lose. It's like the whole universe is against my and Lucifer's relationship. We can't win!" She sobbed into Amenadiel's chest.

Amenadiel not sure what to answer to that says the first thing coming to mind. "I'm not Sure This is any comfort. But I am quite sure Lucifer feels the exact same way. From what you told me it seems like Lucifer is going through and hurting a lot more than what he lets on. I mean why should he tell you that there isn't enough time to find an antidote if he doesn't feel that the end is close. I am also quite sure that Lucifer feels just as manipulated as you do. He has lived his whole life doing what father wanted him to. When he then finally is able to find some happiness on his own, it's immediately ripped out of his grip. His whole life he has been afraid of being manipulated and when he then finds something that feels reel he will stop at nothing to keep that." Amenadiel stopped and looked down on Chloe hugging her a bit tighter before continuing. "But from his current stat both physical and psychological I think he is about to give up. He feels like there is nothing he can do, because whatever This poison is it's something extremely strong. And Lucifer feels that he isn't gonna be able to fight it for much longer."

When Amenadiel stops talking Chloe looks up at him realize vision hitting her. "Shit! That's why he wanted me to go to work. Because he didn't want me to be there when he..." She trails off taking a few steps back. "Give me the poison, I have to get This to Ella and then I need to get back to LUX." She says with determination in her voice. She is surprised how steady it sounds.

Amenadiel hands over the small Bottle and Chloe immediately turn around.

Not caring that her eyes are red from the crying she walks at a high speed back into the station and against Ella's labb. "Ella?" She says as she opens the door to the labb and storms in.

"Oh! There you are, I was wondering where you took off to." She pauses as she looks up at Chloe and sees her blood shot eyes. "Hey' is everything okay? What happened."

Once again Chloe closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. "I don't have time to explain, But I need you to examine This poison and see if you can make an antidote for it. And I am gonna be home sick the following days so the case we were working on is gonna be handed off on someone else." Before Ella is able to Ask all the questions she most likely had, Chloe left the room and ran out of the station to her car.

The whole car ride Chloe's mind starts to spin and she gets more and more anxious for every passing minute. She grabs the steering wheel and soon her knuckles have turned white, from the hard grip. When finally she reaches LUX she slams the car door shut and runs into the building. She decides to take the stairs up to the penthouse, knowing that will be faster than waiting for the elevator. Once at the final step she runs into the penthouse and exclaims. "Lucifer!" Looking around trying to see where he may be.

"I am right here detective." She heard him say in a calm but questioning tone. He is sitting on the couch looking at his phone. But as he hears his name he puts the phone down and turns around on the couch to look at Chloe with a raised eyebrow.
