The final plan

Part 7

Part 7:
Dan seems to be a bit confused at hearing another voice, as he turns around to look at her. Still pointing the gun at Lucifer. "I'm sorry, I have to." He says and tightens his grip around the gun, turning his attention back at Lucifer.

Chloe is immediately running toward them and without thinking about it she positions herself right in front of Lucifer. So that Dan now is pointing the gun at her instead. Suddenly her terror of something happening to Lucifer is replaced by anger. "What the hell are you doing?" She says in an angry and threatening voice. She takes a step closer and takes the gun out of Dan's hands putting it on the coffee table behind her.

Dan looks taken aback at first before snapping back at her. "What am I doing? What are you doing? He's the devil, and you've known about it all This time?" He sounds almost afraid and is talking quickly.

Chloe looks a bit confused at first before her expression turns into one of realizeision. "Dan, let me explain. Please?" She says in a soft tone pointing at the chairs beside the couch.

He looks over at Lucifer and then turns back to Chloe, before he takes a deep breath. "Fine."

They sit down, Chloe closest to Lucifer and Dan on the chair upset from them. Chloe looks down on Lucifer making sure he is still asleep. When she does she realize that he once again is drained in sweat. She looks over at Dan before she lets out a breath and stands up. "I will be right back." She says to Dan before leaving the room, taking the gun with her. Not trusting Dan enough to leave it with him in the same room.

A few minutes later she came back into the Living Room with a New wet towel for Lucifer. She places it on his forehead and softly strokes his cheek. Before sitting back down and turning to Dan, who gives her a confused look. She shakes it off and instead asks. "What do you want to know?"

Dan looks up at her and thinks for a moment. "When did you find out?"

"The night at the ambush when Pierce died, I saw his face." Chloe says casually.

He looks at her with wide eyes. "You have known about This the whole time? Without saying something? Without warning me!" He almost screamed the last part.

Chloe quickly turns around making sure he didn't wake Lucifer up. "Dan, please keep it down. Lucifer he's... he needs to rest." She says in a high whisper, quite not sure what to tell Dan about Lucifer's current condition. "And yes I have known about it This whole time without telling you. Because you shouldn't have believed me if I told you." She then answers his question.

Dan's eyes seem to flash with anger and his body tense up. "Like hell he does! He's the devil, I bet he doesn't even need to sleep at all." He spits in an angry voice, once again too loud for Chloe's liking.

Realizing she's not gonna get through to him by keeping the truth from him she decides to tell him everything. "Dan please, keep your voice down and listen to me." At first it seems like he was about to snap something back. But as their eyes meet and Dan sees the tears that start to fill Chloe's eyes he decides to keep quiet and do as she says. "He's sick Dan, like really sick. His... his brother poisoned him with a poison specifically created to kill the devil. He is fighting it as best as he can, But I can see that he is hurting a lot more than he lets on. So, please keep your voice down so he doesnt wake up."

At first Dan looks a bit taken aback and then a look of confusion hits his face. "Well as far as I am concerned his brother did us all a faiver. Now we will finally be rid of that annoying, terrifying, self absorbed monster. He is the godda..." he stops when he sees the tears quietly escaping Chloe's eyes and how she slowly reaches out and takes one of Lucifer's hands in hers. "how can you still care about him after you find out who he really is. I mean he is the actual devil." He asks This time in a lower and more calm voice.

Chloe looks over at Lucifer softly squeezes his hand as she thinks about what to tell Dan. How she is supposed to explain so that he can understand. "Because I know him." She says in a whisper still looking at Lucifer. She then turns her attention back to Dan, But still holding on to Lucifer's hand. "Because I have seen who he wants to be. Who he is trying to be." Looking over at Dan she realizes that he doesn't get what she is saying so she decides to continue. "Lucifer didn't choose to be the devil. He was forced to, to become This... thing, doing a job he hated for millennials. Trying to please his father. Lucifer lived like the devil for a long, long time getting blamed for every human sin ever created. And somewhere along the way he started to believe it himself. He started to believe that he was ''This terrible, horrible monster that was responsible for everything bad that had ever happened." She stops to look over at Lucifer, she has never before reflected on how much he really did hate himself. "But once he got down here to earth he soon realized that he could change, that he could, find back to the person he was before he was sent down to hell. And he has changed so much in the last year, and finally he is starting to find the person he once was." She continues once again looking over at Lucifer giving his hand a light squeeze.

Dan seems to be a bit surprised, but soon his expression changes into one of realization. "Oh" is all he seems to be able to get out at the moment. 

She looks back up at Dan, the tears clear in her eyes. "He wants to change, he has changed. And I trust him, I trust him with every fiber in my body. Because he has sacrificed so much and gone through so much just to save me. He has saved me more times than I can count, and all the pain he has gone through to make me happy and please me is something I am never gonna be able to return. I mean look at him now." She points a shaky finger at Lucifer's sleeping form beside her before continuing. "He could give up any second and just let go. But he doesn't. Instead he keeps fighting through all of this pain and suffering, just because I asked him to keep fighting. Because I still believe that there is a way to save him."

Again Dan has a look of surprise and confusion on his face. "But why do you care so much about him?" He asks in a low and somewhat gentle voice, trying to understand what she is feeling.

Now Chloe wasn't able to keep it together any longer. All the stress and pain from these last days crashing down on her at once. "BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!" She screams out, tears running down her face. She doesn't care if Lucifer wakes up anymore. In fact that would probably just be a good thing, because then she knew that he was gonna be able to calm her down. "I love him. He's the most important person in my entire life and I can't lose him, not again." She this time whispers looking down on her and Lucifer's hand in her lap.

This time Dan's reaction is the opposite of the times before. He stands up from his chair walking over to Chloe and kneeling down in front of her wrapping his arms around her, not caring that Lucifer is laying just a few feet away. "Chloe I..." He doesn't know what to say. He knew that there was a connection between Chloe and Lucifer. But that she felt so strongly about him, he could never have been able to guess. She starts to softly sob against his shoulder and he tightens his grip around her.

When Chloe has calmed down she leans back letting go of Dan. "I need your help Dan. Please I..." She trails off not knowing how to continue.

Dan takes the hand Chloe isn't holding Lucifer's hand with and gives it a gentle squeeze. "What do you need me to do?" He asks. He is still terrified about the fact that Lucifer is the literal devil. But if what Chloe told him is true, that he is the person he has been for all the years they have known each other and he isn't playing some sharaide, then he doesn't deserve this. Plus he can't stand seeing Chloe in this much pain. So if there is something he can do, then he is gonna do it.

Chloe seems to look a bit surprised by his question. She didn't think he would help. "Amenadiel and Maze are out looking for an antidote. So far they haven't found anything except some of the poison. I gave it to Ella, told her she had to examine it and see if they could make an antidote to it. Before you ask, no She doesn't know anything and she doesn't need to know right now. Could you go and help her and check if she has anything? She has probably gone home now, but in the morning or something? I... I can't leave Lucifer I..." She tries to explain as quickly as possible.

He gives her a small smile squeezing her hand again. "Of course Chloe. I will go and check up with Ella the first thing in the morning." He reassures her and the smile that appears on Chloe's face makes him smile back at her. 

"Thank you." She says in a weak voice.

"No problem." He stands up and gives Chloe's hand one last squeeze before letting it go. "I should go. Talk to you tomorrow." He says as he walks over to the elevator.
