"Now," I announced. "We have a special performance. Every fifth performance shall be a duet between two random people. Each person shall only perform one duet, so we have a whole separate bowl for that." I clocked my fingers, and the single-performance bowl swapped itself out with the duet bowl, an identical looking bowl with everyone's name in, whether they'd been at the Karaoke from the start or not. The crowd and judges looked amazed. "Thanks to Camp Half-Blood's Leo Valdez for designing that little trick. So, Rick, do you want to pick the first member of this duet?"~Rick Riordan~
I took a piece of neatly folded paper (Aphrodite, much?) out the bowl that had just swapped itself with the bowl we were using before. I guess if it was made by Leo, then, of course it did amazing things. I was shocked by the name I saw.
"Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto, The Amazing Book and Movie Chatbox." I read out. I couldn't believe that I would meet one of my own creations!
"Hazel! Come on up!" Connor called out. I saw her right away: a mass of chocolate curls making their way through the crowd.
"AAND! While Hazel's on her way up, Cassandra, do you want to pick Hazel's partner?"~Travis Stoll~
The Mortal Instruments author nodded, and pulled a name out of the bowl.
"Amy Clara Rose," she announced. "Daughter of the Doctor, The Amazing Book and Movie Chatbox and Doctor's Daughter."
"All right! Amy, come on up!" I announced. I watched as a girl with pale gingery curls made her way up to the stage. When she was on the stage, Connor, Will and I left, leaving the two girls to decide their song.
"Do you know Good Time by Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City?" Hazel asked. "That's one of the few songs from this time period that I know."
"Sure!" Amy grinned. "I love Good Time!"
"Great!" Hazel laughed, and the two girls introduced themselves. "Hello, I'm Hazel and I was actually brought back from the dead by my Greek half-brother Nico." It seemed tradition for people to say something interesting about themselves. A lot of the crowd gasped at what Hazel said, including us three backstage.
"Hey, I'm Amy!" Amy smiled. "And I'm a Time Lady." The Whovians in the crowd went wild (this included Will) the girls said the next thing as one into both microphones (thanks to Leo, another mic had come up from its little hiding spot in the floor when I summoned the duet bowl)
"And we'll be singing Good Time by Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City!" That announcement seemed to please the crowds. Amy and Hazel began the song together."Whoa-uh-oh,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-uh-oh,
It's always a good time!" Amy began the next part."Woke up on the right side of the bed,
What's up with this Prince song inside my head?
Hands up if you're down to get down tonight,
Coz it's always a good time!" Amy then stopped singing and nodded at Hazel to do the next part. It looked like a good plan."Slept in all my clothes like I didn't care,
Hopped in a cab, take me anywhere!
I'm in if you're down to get down tonight!
Coz it's always a good time!" The girls joined together for the chorus."Good morning and good night,
I'll wake up at twilight.
It's gonna be alright!
We don't even have to try,
It's always a good time!""Whoo!" Hazel yelled. Amy grinned, and joined Hazel again to continue the chorus.
"Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh, whoa-oh-oh,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh,
We don't even have to try,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh, whoa-oh-oh,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh,
We don't even have to try,
It's always a good time!" The next part was begun by Hazel."Doesn't matter when!"
"It's always a good time then!" The pattern continued like that: Hazel sung the doesn't matter... then Amy sang the it's always a good time.
"Doesn't matter where!"
"It's always a good time there!"
"Doesn't matter when!"
"It's always a good time then!" The two joined together to finish the song.
"It's always a good time!" They yelled, clearly very into the song.
"Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh, whoa-oh-oh,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh,
We don't even have to try,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh, whoa-oh-oh,
It's always a good time!
Whoa-oh-oh, oh oh oh,
We don't even have to try,
It's always a good time!" With that, their song was over, and the crowd went NUTS. We all made our way back onto the stage.
"Great job, girls!" I congratulated.
"The crowd clearly adored your song," Will began. "so let's see what the judges thought! Rick, would you like to start us off?" Rick nodded, and addressed Hazel and Amy.
"You two sound great together! I think the song turned out really good with you two, so it's a 10 from me." The judges continued giving their scores: Amy and Hazel got a 10 from Rick, and a 9 from everyone else apart from Derek, who gave them an 8.
"Great job, girls! Your total score is 52 out of 60!" I grinned, and the two girls headed back to their groups, while I swapped the two bowls and removed one microphone ready for the next performance.
