Michael's shift was almost over, thank the Lord. It ended at 11.30, and he was hoping that he wouldn't have to deal with any more customers for the night. But it obviously wasn't his lucky night.
A petite girl with dark brown hair and an elf like nose entered at exactly 11.11pm. She smiled at him before walking through the door, revealing a tall blonde girl stood behind her. The blonde stayed by the door whilst the petite girl skipped over to Michael, the bun on her head bouncing around. She leaned against the counter and grinned widely, the gap in her front teeth made her look a lot younger than she probably was.
"What are the chances of me taking you out on a date?" Michael looked her in the eye, surely this was a joke? A dare perhaps? He looked over at her friend who just stood there looking un-amused, like she was ready to leave and didn't want to be there in the first place. The girl in front of him was filling out a lottery ticket, he was unaware she even took one.
"Probably the same as you winning the lottery." Michael chuckled but the elf-like girl's eyebrows knitted together and her thin lips pouted.
"Seriously? Not one date?" She looked up at him, she was really short, she could barely rest her elbows on the counter.
"No."
"Well, okay then." She smiled at him, it seemed genuine as though she wasn't disheartened, she took rejection well unlike some people. She just paid for her lottery ticket and left. The stranger was gone within an instant, her friend too. Michael looked up at the clock. It was only 11.15. Mystery girl took up four minutes of his time, it was better than nothing.
