The next day, the stranger walked through the doors again, it was early afternoon and this time she was alone. Michael waited for her to grab whatever she was getting, taking money off of another customer for over-priced petrol.
She walked over with a red bull in her hand and her dark brown eyes scanned the shelf in front of the counter where Michael waited patiently. He swore she took about 10 minutes choosing a chocolate bar. When she finally picked a Mars bar. Michael grimaced.
"What?" She asked.
"Too sweet."
"Kind of like me then." She winked one of her doe-like eyes whilst Michael rolled his. The girl looked over to the lottery ticket stack and took a slip, filling out the numbers.
“Can I get this lottery ticket and your number?” She was bold to say the least, it took Michael slightly by surprise, he hadn't expected her to come back let alone ask him on a date again.
“You can have the ticket numbers, just not mine.” Michael replied plainly, scanning through her items.
“Damn, so it’s a no to a date then?”
“Yeah, it’s a no.” Michael laughed a little, knowing she wouldn't be offended, she didn’t look hurt at all, which he was glad for.
“Okay, well I’ll see you again tomorrow.” She paid for her things and Michael noticed a tattoo on her middle finger.
"What's the tattoo?" He asked, suddenly intrigued.
"Four leaf clover." She shrugged and exited the shop, he heard her sigh, maybe she cared more than she was letting on. He wasn't aware of ever meeting her before yesterday, so why would she be that bothered by his rejection? Or perhaps he was thinking too much into it.
Michael couldn't understand why she wanted to go on a date with him. That was the part that perplexed him the most. A random girl with a bow in her hair and knee high socks, who was very far from his type, walked in and asked him on a date? Twice? That was just a little out of the ordinary, and Michael rather liked ordinary. Not bubbly, pushy girls who insisted he go on a date with them, that was something Michael considerably disliked. He didn't even know her name.
