Chapter 5

Akira's POV

The sun feels so warm today.

I stand out on my own away from the gathered students. Most of my skin is exposed because of my costume, so more of my body is able to absorb the energy of the beautiful burning star.

I can feel eyes on me, but I don't bother to see who it is. I raise my face and close my eyes, encased in pure bliss and serenity.

Across the week I've spent here, I've learnt the names of everyone in our class. It's surprisingly relieving. I also learned that Bakugo's first name is Katsuki.

All Might's call catches my attention. I jog back over to the group; the metal bits on my knee-high boots jingle as I do so. I stop by Mina, Momo, Deku and the others.

I feel so tall next to them being mostly level height.

That's a first, usually I'm shorter than everyone.

I hear Bakugo yelling at Kirishima a few metres away. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common thing.

I feel slightly self-conscious as I see the two boys looking over at me. I wish the bandage on my shoulder wasn't so obvious.

In truth, I didn't even realise that I was injured when I came home the first day. It wasn't until a day or two later that I felt pain from my left shoulder and noticed the burn in the shape of a hand and the purple bruising around it.

I didn't want anyone to know what happened, especially not Izuku or Bakugo; though I think Izuku already suspected what it was from.

The wound has healed drastically due to my quirk; able to use the sun's energy and light to heal and rejuvenate myself.

The girls compliment my costume when I join them, I blush a little, returning their kind words.

All Might splits us into teams of two; I am paired with Ojiro Mashirao.

The battle requires us to fight in teams of two against each other; team heroes and team villains. The two teams called first are Team A and Team D.

"Team A will be the heroes; Team D will be the villains!"

Oh no, Izuku and Uraraka are first up. I wonder who is in Team D.

My internal question is answered immediately by a trembling Izuku being glared at by Bakugo, who for once was just staring instead of yelling or scrunching his face in disgust.

Why does he look so attractive like that?

My heart faulters before beating faster.

I hear a light humph noise of determination come from beside me as the green haired boy clenches his fists and looks bravely at the blonde.

He looks off guard before growling and glaring at the smaller boy. I feel the need to stand between them and block each other from their sight.

It appears Iida is Team D's other member as he prepares himself for the battle.

"Oi Porcupine." I didn't make the conscious decision to speak; the words fall out of my mouth. "J-Just remember, we're not trying to kill each other in these battles. So, try not to hurt the other team unnecessarily."

I watch him as my voice is stern. He doesn't say anything for a moment. I wonder if he is contemplating yelling at me.

"Deku." He says biting back anger. "You're nothing more than a pebble in my path. I will beat you, even with your new quirk. SO, DON'T HOLD BACK, YOU GOT THAT?"
