Otter

So basically this is an idea I got when my friend said the word "Otter" to me and this is gonna be short and random and hella pointless and yeah.

John's POV
I was updating my blog when I saw one of the comments saying how much they "shipped" Sherlock and me. It wasn't the first comment saying it and I knew it wouldn't be the last. It would be interesting to see how happy people would be if we actually told them that we were together. 

The thing that was different about this comment was that it didn't call us "John and Sherlock" or even "Johnlock", as many people called us. No, this comment called us an otter and a hedgehog. Apparently, I was a hedgehog and Sherlock was an otter. 

I couldn't help but laugh at this. It was ridiculous to compare us to animals, though I did think it was pretty cute to call Sherlock an otter. In some ways Sherlock is similar to an otter. Well. One way, both otters and Sherlock are pretty damn cute. 

Sherlock heard me laughing and looked up from his microscope in the kitchen, asked what it was I was laughing at. I explained to him the comment and why it was so funny and how I thought he looked cute like an otter.

When I said he looked cute like an otter, his face went a light dusty pink colour and it was adorable. 

"Awww, you're blushinggg" I said, giggling at him slightly. 

"No I'm not. Anyway, you're more of a hedgehog than I am an otter." Sherlock complained. I just rolled my eyes playfully at him and kissed him on top of the head before going back into the living room. 

Over the next few weeks, we started calling each other "My hedgehog" and "My otter" more often as a joke but Sherlock still blushed lightly occasionally when I called him and otter. 

One of the many bonuses to this was it confused Lestrade and everyone else at Scotland Yard. We would just be there calling each other animal nicknames while working on a case and everyone else would be standing there, slightly bewildered.

Eventually it just became a habit and we often called each other by out pet (quite literally) names and I, for one, loved it.

Hey I said it was gonna be short lol. Hope yall enjoyed it. I would update again but the next one I have lined up is a sad one and I don't wanna write it right now. I'll write it tomorrow or something. Next week I have online school instead of actual school so I'll be able to update more, plus then I'll have the Christmas holidays. I may even update  my Torchwood book, we'll see. See ya soon x
